Again, as over the course of this pandemic, we go back in time and look for older sets. This one is from August 26th 2012 at Fabric in London, a Sunday. Sundays were run under the brand “WetYourSelf” by the three DJs and friends, Cormack, Jacob Husley and Peter Pixzel. Fabric is of course a legendary club and I was always happy to play there, but those Sundays were special. Peter, Jacob and Cormac always put a lot of love in the line ups and took amazing care of everyone from start to finish. The Sunday night crowd, especially for the WYS nights, were dedicated clubbers that came for the music and the special Sunday vibe. I have loads of fond memories of those nights and they will always be engrained in my brain. I wanna take the chance and once more thank Peter, Jacob and Cormac for always believing in me, having me almost like a resident and for those amazing times we had.

Listen here to the seventh hour of my 10h set that I played for my birthday in 2014 at the legendary Output Club in Brooklyn. 

How I miss DJing in clubs, in front of all of you and how I miss Output Club and those special all night long nights that I usually did in December around my birthday. This set, which you will get hour by hour on a weekly basis now here on AMFM was one of the longer ones. Output had a very strict no picture policy, so there is no footage from inside the club, I only found one blurry picture from my birthday cake. I started at 11 pm as far as I remember and according to my recording I ended at 9 in the morning. Output was such a special place with an amazing sound system and DJ booth, it was always such a pleasure playing there. You always take things for granted as long as you have them. Output Club had to close down end of 2018. I was very sad then and somehow I am even more now, as these days seem so long ago and I have no idea when I get to do something similar again in NYC. I miss it. I miss the city and its people. I have always had a great relationship with NYC since I started to play there in the late 90’s for the legendary Monday nights at Sullivan Bar, organised by @christiansmith. Time goes by so fast, if we don’t learn to appreciate the moment more, it will all just become a faint memory. Stay healthy everyone and I really hope I will get to see you all on some dancefloor again. Let´s travel back in time again. I hope you like these excursions to the past. September 1st 2014. Monday, Ibiza. Amnesia. Cocoon. That should tell you basically all you need to know. It is nice to use these times to travel back a little and remember the amazing summers we had, especially on the white isle of Ibiza. Cocoon always played a big part of that, the first time I played at Amnesia was in 1999, which was the first (pre) season for Cocoon hosted by Sven Väth, who essentially paved the way on the island for techno, which was unheard of really before that time. Those gigs at Amnesia were always very special for me, I loved the club and the DJ booth, the light jockey, who never spoke one word of English and me no Spanish, but we were always super happy to see each other and work together. I hope one day I will be able to return to that DJ booth and experience all that again. This week´s AMFM is the sixth and last hour of a 6h set that I played at Concrete, Paris on September 23rd 2016. The Concrete Club was on a Boat (barge) on the river Seine in the middle of beautiful Paris. The crew behind Concrete is one of the most wonderful bunch of promoters I have ever met and it showed in what they had created with this club. I always loved to play long sets there, I think my longest one was 10h (I think I might even released that set as another AMFM show). And I also always loved to open up the night, as I did in this case, hence the beginning of the set. In the background you can hear the people entering the club, directly aiming for the dance floor and ready for whatever there is to come. Talking about the audience, those at Concrete were some of the most open minded and ready to party people I have encountered in my career. Sometimes a DJ would be playing Drum and Bass before you, sometimes House… anything good and the crowd had a good time, I loved that atmosphere. Also it always was very intimate, with a no picture policy, you as a DJ were basically standing right in front, smiling, dancing and laughing along with this amazingly diverse crowd. And all that essentially in the middle of Paris. I really miss this place and put it up there with cult clubs that have sadly closed their doors forever, like Output, Omen and so on. Concrete closed its doors for good end of July 2019 due to issues with the owner of the barge. It will be forever missed, but the crew behind Concrete is still busy and I am sure one day we will have a new amazing place created by them for us to party at. Until then, we have those memories… and recordings. Enjoy.
