The inspiration for LOVE ME LIKE YOU DID BEFORE came from an unexpected burst of creativity within the world of AI-powered music. While my project, Kara Vale, typically focuses on introspective and often melancholic themes, using AI to explore grief, healing, and personal growth, this track took a completely different direction. The whole song was born out of a spontaneous experiment between myself (as the creator behind Kara Vale) and the creative mind collaborating with RICHMOND, another AI-driven music persona.

We set out to challenge both ourselves and the capabilities of AI songwriting tools. Instead of following the usual emotional, synth-laden path, we wanted to see what would happen if we let the AI “play” with more upbeat, sun-drenched pop elements. Using Suno and other AI tools, we experimented with bright chords, lively drum patterns, and playful hooks. The mood that emerged felt so different—almost as if the AI itself was inviting us to explore a lighter, more spontaneous side.

In the process, we let RICHMOND’s signature style (AI-generated rap vocals) intertwine with the dreamy indie pop foundation of Kara Vale. Neither of our AI personas had ever “collaborated” this way before, and the excitement was real, both for us as creators and for the algorithms themselves! It became a true test of how far AI music can go: not just mimicking genre conventions, but combining elements in fresh, genre-blurring ways.

Lyrically, the song taps into nostalgia and the hope to rekindle a relationship’s first spark. But rather than looking back with regret, we wanted the AI to help express forward-looking optimism, a sense of joy and emotional renewal. The end result radiates warmth and hope, echoing the spontaneity that can happen when AI and human creativity work hand in hand.

With LOVE ME LIKE YOU DID BEFORE, we wanted to show that AI music projects like Kara Vale and RICHMOND aren’t limited to one mood or style. This collaboration is about embracing the full spectrum of what’s possible when you trust the process, lean into experimentation, and let both human and artificial imagination run free. Our goal was for listeners (and judges!) to feel that sense of adventure and sunlight that guided us through the making of this unique track.
