The new dirtybird compilation is loaded with 11 great tunes I have been collecting for over 6 months. Most notably, the Shiba San "OKAY" record has absolutely been destroying every dance floor known to man. We have lots of big birds like Justin Martin, Catz ‘N Dogz & Justin Jay on this, plus a ton of great newcomers and friends making appearances.

The dirtybird BBQ was founded as a small get together in Golden Gate Park thirteen years ago. We've had the same core line-ups and even the same chef, Grillson, since the beginning.  But three years ago, the free party in the park got too big and our permit was pulled.  The city of San Francisco could no longer handle the amount of people showing up to the event.  

Ever since then we have been trying to think of way to bring back the vibe of the BBQ park party. This year we finally put together a team that is able to take the BBQ party all across North America and Europe. We will be starting in Miami and ending in San Francisco so make sure to come grill and chill with us sometime this year. This compilation is a celebration of the O.G. dirtybird BBQ vibe.   I hope you enjoy the music.

I wrote the lyrics, recorded in a lot of the guitar and extra vocal parts, and worked for months on the mixdown. I'm really excited to share it with you all.

"A quick scrawl through emails reveals our first demo for this idea was Nov 2011. Our main man Ajax (RIP) wrote back saying he loved the idea, but we needed to flip it harder. "Get some super kinky male vocal and this could really pop" he told us. Fast forward to WMC 2013 and with the idea still in our mind, we mentioned it to SYF and Fritz (the Azari and III vocalists) and they instantly fell in love with the idea. And we now had not one, but two very distinct voices to sing it. The original mix was at 124 bpm but when we slowed it down to 98, we felt the full flip we needed to cover such a classic, had occurred. If the number of our dj buddies requesting a copy is anything to go by, then peeps seem to be liking it." 

The original juxtaposes cheeky and fun with dark and haunting all wrapped around the irresistible vox of the Hungry for the Power boys and one of THOSE baselines. 

On the remix tip, Defected Records and Hot Creations artist Human Life gives a nod to the original original on his housey re-work while Pete Tong future stars pick Walker & Royce keep things dark, but oh so cool with their remix and their bonus deep space dub mix.
