Premiere: Oliver Osborne - Long Time Coming (Madmotormiquel Remix) [Cacao Records]

Sounds Of Khemit continues to introduce its rich array of talent with another Various Artists EP that features Sanoi & Zuke, Bákayan and Kyongpaul. This is a label that is intent on transporting listeners to higher states of consciousness with its music. It's about sounds that strengthen the soul and bring harmony and joy to everyday life. The fantastic 11 track Khepri compilation was a testament to that and this new EP is another sure step on the journey. Say the label of the inspiration for this project, "The Khemitian Master of Masters Tehuti, known as Thoth and as Hermes for the Greeks, is the master of wisdom, the scribe of God. He is responsible for all human knowledge and is the master of learning, writing, science, art and magic and a founder of all major disciplines from science to astrology, alchemy to magic. Most myths speak of the venerated Tehuti as a man with impeccable persuasive and speaking skills whose ancient Khemit wisdom has been lost for thousands of years. Our goal at Sounds of Khemit is to bring it back to society and we believe his greatest wisdom is the way ancient Khemitians used sound. In their hands sound was not only able to spread joy and happiness but also able to heal mental and physical states, and we hope to do the same." To open up, German producer Sanoi, who has released his warming grooves on the likes of Bar25, ZEHN and Still Vor Talent, links with bass enthusiast and beatmaker Zuke. Their 'Morphology' is an exquisite nine-minute house symphony. The lush chords and majestic melodies dance about the deep groove and take your mind into the stars.

After two decades of redefining electronic music with unconventional and psychedelic club sounds, German DJ and producer Acid Pauli needs no introduction. His third album MOD arrived in September 2020 as a remarkable tribute to the modular synthesizer, the most trusted tool in Acid Pauli aka Martin Gretschmann's arsenal. He created the record almost entirely with modular systems, reveling in the possibilities and stretching the limits of machines that sing to themselves. 

The first part of MOD Remixes saw innovative reinterpretations by Pilocka Krach, JakoJako and other notable names from the Berlin underground. Now on the second part, Acid Pauli's collaborators bring expertise from all over Europe and beyond, resulting in a magnificent international collection.

Well reputed DJ Tennis and Roderic approach "No Kick, No Cry" from completely different directions. The former accentuates the prominent kick drum and adds new layers to the track, making it a true earworm, while Roderic keeps it more low-key, carefully coating the already immersive and ASMR-like soundscape in nuanced texture. 

"Du Brecht, Ich Dub" undergoes a complete makeover by German producer, DJ and vocalist Perel. With two extra minutes and a bright newfound energy, her version plays like a soundtrack for an aerial footage of a neon-lit city. Needless to say, it is an irresistible dancefloor-filler. 

Slovakia-born and London-based artist Lenka Toma adds a warm touch to "Life Polarizer". United by the consuming groove, Acid Pauli's chirping and bubbling soundbites come alive with Toma's techno backdrop.

"Sublime Frequencies Of Cairo" becomes subject to quite a metamorphosis, too. What was already an album highlight is elevated further by Jonathan Kaspar, resident of Cologne's nightlife hotspot Gewölbe. His beat pulsates throughout the initially beatless track and masterfully connects the dots between Acid Pauli's floating loops, eventually finding its way to the foreground.

On its remixed version, MOD reemerges as an entirely new record, basking in all these diverse influences while firmly retaining the trailblazing lifeforce of its creator.

Acid Pauli - No Kick, No Cry (Roderic No Cry Kick Is Back Remix)

'For the 23rd EP on Heimlich Musik, Franz Matthews collaborates with label veteran Johannes Klingebiel and Berlin-based multi-instrumentalist Semodi, delivering two original mixes accompanied with remixes by Random Atlas and Balam. "Signs" is the result of a spontaneous collaboration between Franz Matthews and Johannes Klingebiel which started after a few drinks and builds on instrumental recordings. A powerful bassline and melancholic pads are used to reflect the message of the vocals to welcome the unexpected signs of life in a positive way. Evolving from a long-lasting friendship with Semodi, "Law of Attraction" is an enchanting arrangement carried by a subtle guitar and vocals about rewiring your own behavioral patterns for a more fulfilling existence. Chilean duo Random Atlas pick up the bassline and main theme of "Signs" in their remix while their powerful signature disco sound is magnified by the use of additional drum elements, analog synth lines, and electric guitars. Balam recreates "Law of Attraction" as an ecstatic club track based on hypnotic drums while keeping the spirit of the original, rounding up the EP as a whole.'

Pattern Drama & Atish - Baraka [Touch of Class]

Regardless of whether they’re releasing house, techno, ambient or more experimental sounds, Pablo Bolivar’s Seven Villas label is one that always makes the listener stand up and take note. For their latest, they welcome back Thierry Viti, better known by his stage name of Ercos Blanka. A prodigious talent, Blanka’s sounds have graced renowned imprints such as Kerri Chandler’s Madtech, while this release only re-affirms his status as one to keep an eye on. An 8 track LP, ‘Classic Track’ is a joyous and thoroughly engaging listen throughout.

The beautiful, hushed tones of ‘Old Trick’ get us underway under a barrage of twinkling keys, while ‘36h’ again follows a dream-inducing path that’s never lacking in the atmosphere department. ‘Brigante’ is cut from a similar cloth. Clever percussion lies throughout, but it’s the zippy synth work that really helps this one stick out from the pack. The artist goes deep once again on the wholly magnificent strands of ‘You and Him’. Full of graceful, melodic flourishes, this one plays out like the closing scene to a poignant movie. 

The second half of the release sees Blanka adopt a wholly different vibe, as he switches from downtempo to more rugged tropes. The first example of this comes courtesy of ‘Sun Street’, a beguiling track that merges the producer’s knack for more uptempo strands with his obvious appreciation for tune and melody. ‘The Pencil’, complete with its off-kilter sounds, clever guitar licks and Balearic vibes serves up another highlight, before ’Strade’ (complete with drama-fuelled action) hints that the finish line is in site. Culminating cut ‘The Last Track’ is a pertinent reminder of the release’s many quality, perfectly encapsulating the sort of panache and flair with which the album boasts in spades. A highly accomplished and fascinating release, ‘Classic Trick’ is sure to go down a treat amongst connoisseurs of the deeper side of the spectrum.

TB is the alias of Permanent Vacation label co-head Tom Bioly. His releases as TB so far are "Invitation To Love" on John Talabot's Hiverned 10" imprint (was voted amongst the best 10" releases by UK Fact magazine), and "City Girl" on Permanent Vacation, of which German Groove magazine wrote "..entirely superb..". "Heartbreak Hotel" is a double twelve-inch release with eight tracks of melancholic dance noir set in smoke-filled darkness. Acid bobbles, distorted strings and echoed guitars are mangled and layered on machine beats and disco drums.

After the Cairo-based producer FULLTONE made his debut for KELLER LABEL in 2018, he is finally releasing a full EP: „A SINE FROM THE NORD“. The three originals convince with the dubby basslines and organically precise rhythm elements that are so typical for FULLTONE . With a good portion of ambient, the remix by POWEL creates a gigantic area and leaves behind a snowy winter landscape.
