Well, It happened one evening.  We were sitting on the swing in the backyard watching the stars.  Waiting for the moon to show its shining face above the trees.  Then a strange thought occurred just as I saw some small glittering light out of the corner of my eye.  I was left to mull it over until I fell asleep.  I was taken to a crisp spring morning in a tiny kitchen in the woods where all the critters were staring through the windows.   With my periscope, I peered inside and much to my amazement, I saw a lovely fairy dressed in dragon fly wings with iridescent sparkles.  She was baking a cake and singing a happy tune.  A fire fly was dancing around her and before I knew it, some of the critters were singing along.

 

So, I asked my compadre if he could help me paint a picture.  We got a ukulele, a snare drum, a theremin, a bass guitar, and a fairy dust synth and a few other special little treats.  We added a special fairy voice and proceeded to capture the moment.  Before I knew it, we were singing along with her.

 

Thank you Dan for your ears, your voice, your rooms, your frostings, your vision, and your company.  It really was a fine day to bake a cake.

This tune came all at once one evening.  Turned on the mic and hit record.  I needed to emote the angst of the times we're living in but remember what we're here for.  The song was then sent to Dan, he grounded the tune with bass, organ and a lovely violin and then mixed a live hot one take performance with extreme agility. It was if someone had taken two pictures and spliced them together and the colors on the right were more saturated and the tone was more intense. The bifurcation of the landscape was obvious to the eye and as I stepped over the line the atmosphere was completely different. The ringing in my ears stopped and the sky was a cerulean blue with low puffy clouds seen through the branches. The fear of the unknown lessened. . What it meant to be settled in my interior was possible again.  The air was clean and my mind was clearer. I waited in the realm and looked back from where I came. If it was a door, it appeared to still be open.  Wandering further, the ground was like a sponge ,moss covered and swollen with moisture. I listened to the birds. There were hundreds of them singing in the trees various tunes. The old dilapidated greenhouse was refurbished with a glassy flexible substance and the doors had been rebuilt with proper handles and springs to swing them open and closed easily. A hand painted sign hung above the northeast door that read Practice Dreaming.  I opened my mouth and sang a lament for the old world and its suffering and the trees swayed their branches till the song was done. And then I began to sing again and could not stop singing full voice from that inner place that reaches across time. The space across the yard from where I had come began to wobble and glitch. Then I understood that this was the present future that could be and all that we had to do was sing it in.

Once a society loses its ideals, there is no reason to remember the past and then the children become a blank slate which is quite empowering for those who want to control.
