Soft Blade, the project of Moscow-born musician and artist Violetta Shabash, is an influential figure in the underground Russian music scene. Since her appearance on 2023's RIFT compilation, she has remained busy cultivating her ever-evolving sound garden.

Her latest album, Softic 2, will be self-released on November 7th, 2025. 

Deeply committed to supporting and uplifting fellow artists from her region and further afield, her mix for YEAR0001 is a scattering of sounds collected from friends and collaborators, arranged with a sentimental touch.

Constructed mainly from unreleased material and her own audio sketches, the mix looks back to her motherland, its textures and contradictions, resulting in a tight nest of lo-fi electronica plucked from post-Soviet space.
