We included this song because it’s part of Leslie’s story. She performed the role of Grizabella in CATS the Broadway Musical for several years, back in her “Broadway Days”. We knew we had to change this arrangement and do something special to make it our own so we explored the 60s R&B idea and we love how it came out.

We all wrote this as a story song about a “gun moll” in the 1920’s who’s plotting to take down her gangster boyfriend. We had a BLAST writing it! This song was cut by Kathy Crinion in 2015 and went all the way to #4 on the European Country Charts!

Prelude was a concept I had as a mournful intro to “My Heart Will Go On”, which I had to honor of singing on with Celine Dion in 1997. In 1998 I got to accept the Grammy® with her for Record of the Year. 

In bringing this song, part of my story, to the project we knew we had to do something very different. This prelude for cellos, conceived of by Casey and me and written and arranged by Producer Dave Rivers, was part of that concept.

Since Leslie won her Grammy© for singing on the album version of this classic with Celine Dion, we knew we had to include it! But, I thought, “We can’t do what Celine did...Celine already did Celine and she does Celine better than anyone”

We worked for months trying to figure out the way to go with this then Casey came up with an amazingly beautiful guitar figure and it made me cry so I knew that was it!

I imagined it as a ‘prayer to a lost loved one” and I heard Irish melancholy in the arpeggios of Casey’s music. So we ended up with an incredibly beautiful track and asked Producer Dave Rivers to write and arrange the cello prelude which is the track before this one.

This is a combination of two tracks from our new CD, "The Long Road to You". The first piece, an original which was a vision of mine and was brought to life, written and arranged by our producer Dave Rivers, was originally intended to be an intro but for one reason or another we made a separate track. This is how Casey, Dave and I always hoped you would experience our version of the Celine Dion classic - the song for which I won a Grammy Award for my vocal contributions. -Leslie Ellis

The Long Road to You is the Chart Topping debut full length CD by two rather accomplished musicians. Leslie Ellis performed lead roles on Broadway including Grizabella in “CATS” and won a Grammy® with Celine Dion for “My Heart Will Go On”. Casey Kelly began his career in the legendary “Greek Fountains” of Baton Rouge opening for major artists at arenas and stadiums. He then began writing hits at 1650 Broadway and the Brill Building, working among the likes of Carole King. He nearly joined Three Dog Night, toured with Tom Rush and The Beach Boys, and wrote #1 hits “Anyone Who Isn’t Me Tonight”, “Somewhere Down the Line”, “Only Game in Town” (recorded by America/produced by George Martin”) “The Cowboy Rides Away” – a signature hit for George Strait –  among many others, and scored a brace of Grammy® nominations. 

The Long Road to You captures a sound born of two hearts, honed over years of performing together, and full of all the pain, humor, relief, disappointment, strength and gratitude that comes from fully giving oneself over to one’s art.

They have been touring across Europe and the US since 2005, to sell out crowds.
