Melbourne’s prolific electronic music scene recruited another valuable member last year, when Perth-born producer Katie Campbell, or Roza Terenzi, joined what has become a popular migration of budding West Australian musicians moving to the east coast.

Roza told us that about two years ago she felt she’d progressed enough musically to warrant an identity shift, taking the solid reputation she’d built with her first moniker Catlips into her Roza Terenzi alter ego.

And it looks like it’s paying off. She’s been making big waves around Australia – at least big enough to induce international demand that will see her set off on her first North America and European tour later this year. These waves have come in the form of some impressive gigs and records, like her debut live set at the carefully curated Inner Varnika festival near Melbourne last weekend. And on the record front, she’s about to drop arguably her biggest record to date: a four-track EP on Voyage Recordings.

“I was in the zone of listening to lots of experimental and trancey stuff,” Katie told us, explaining the creative origins of the upcoming record.

Our premiere is the remix from Vancouver’s own, D. Tiffany, AKA DJ Zozi. At least for the sake of the EP’s musical unity and cohesion, D. Tiffany was a wise choice for a Roza remix, with plenty of stylistic similarities between the two. In fact, their cross-continental synergy recently saw the completion of their collaborative EP on Vancouver label Planet Euphorique, set for release on April 30. So it’s no surprise this remix slots in quite seamlessly next to the three originals.

Of Mexican-Danish descent, and born and raised in the notorious tower blocks of the southwestern suburbs of Copenhagen, the 27-year old is on the up-and-up. In high demand as the founder of boom bap rap group NATKAT, producer of pop outﬁt Ny Sensei (New Sensei) and head of tape-only label Buddahood, the multi-talent seems to have a hand in everything at the moment.   His 2017 debut ‘Porno TR-XXX’ (C.U.P) saw some of the hottest names in the game spinning B FROM E at last year’s Dekmantel festival, resulting in oﬀers from several well-known record labels. His new record on Tartelet Records comes as four cuts exploring diﬀerent paths of the garage house sound. The opener ‘Dark Energy’ is fueled by ﬁlthy breaks and a nostalgic theme that would not be out of place in an early Atari computer game. ‘The People (Dream Mix)’ is a trippy tour through subtle layered melodies, carried by a stripped-back groove.   On the B-side you will ﬁnd ‘Positive Sister (2605 Tool)’: a chunky cut with a serious bassline. DJ Seinfeld presents an immersive EP exploring the balance between fragility and force. Sakura EP is out on Deep Sea Frequency in April. 
The four tracks draw from a multitude of inﬂuences. Breaks, electro, dub and trance elements band together with a familiar lo-ﬁ approach where distortion acts as an instrument of its own.
Title track "Sakura" is a subaquatic dose of old school electro with swollen bass and fuzzy harmonics. Sagrada brandishes swirling melodies with layers of detail whilst Belvedere uses looped breaks and a sub-driven bassline to build animated funk. Battery rounds out the EP playing with delicate melodic inﬂections over a cavernous low end.

SW's lush sound design and hypnotic arrangements of 2017’s ’The Album’ had hearts and minds swooning following it’s license from SUED to Apollo.
It’s balmy glory won over Pitchfork ('deeply expressive debut album’ 8/10), Rolling Stone (best electronic albums 2017) and XLR8R (Best releases 2017) amongst many others. 

One year later, SW and SVN have gone into the studio, together; “to make some original music specifically for Apollo. The results are the 6 tracks on this EP,” they share in a typically taciturn statement.

Taking inspiration from the iconic house and techno of the mid / late 90s - SW and SVN combine dreamy melodies and mesmeric grooves with unfussy, focussed minimalism, their beguiling, modern take on classic sounds and rhythms remains thrillingly unique and elusive. 

While SW and SVN are more comfortable out of the limelight, this 6 track EP for Apollo once again proves that they are rightly worthy of the hype that swirls around them.

Stacy's pink Cadillac was a thing of beauty, in your face and bold it roared loudly as the bass bumped loudly in the boot of that old car. She was heading to the seaside, far away from this dirty old town... 

De Lichting is a newly launched collaborative project made up of contributors from three independent Amsterdam based record labels - Yield Records, Native Response and Working Titles.. The first release is a compilation of tracks which span the breadth of electronic music in the present day.

Metropolitan Soul Museum, a duo that’s been making waves since their 2015 self-released debut MSM001, is back again with four tracks for Rawax. Coming off their acclaimed Tesla EP release on Toy Tonics and their very recent album out on Dionysian Mysteries, Metropolitan Soul Museum is poised to catch our ears once again with this forthcoming effort.

Today we’re debuting the project’s first track, “Deeh”. Like previous MSM tracks we’ve come to love, Deeh kicks off the EP with drums front and centre. Finding that perfect balance of gain and compression, the kicks shudder up into the midrange frequencies as if trying to escape the basement club they’re banging from. The groove is a nice deviation from the omnipresent four-on-the-floor standard, with an extra kick here and there to break up the beat while flirting with a flurry of hi-hats that fill up the headspace. As the seven-minutes of music unfold, timeless analog-esque string pads, synths, and a bubbly bass line round out the track to construct a laid-back but driving lo-fi club tool. A very fashionable start to what’s expected to be a brilliant effort. Make sure to grab a copy of the vinyl from Rawax via your local or online distributor!

Reality always escapes the corridors of the mind and fails to be caught in it’s believed opinions and oppositions. Cosmic Force is here to guide you through the maze and helps you to relax these muscles, trading it for a more direct energetic connection that will put you into hyperspace. 

Mighty Envy is an unforgiving piece of arp centred electro, pushing the envelope without letting go of the gas pedal. Pulsating bells along the way signal you onto the cosmic runway, there is no space left except to surrender. Haunted By My Past accelerates to even further places. Inspired by EBM it’s a funky dance floor workout in which a sexy AI tells you everything about you you’ve never wanted to know. The great digital escape, you’re trying to make way to the reboot button but finally find out the damn thing doesn’t exist.

In Transmitting Illicit Logic we first encounter an older AI model which got stuck in one of its own created habits and as a consequence is only left spitting out deranging synth arpeggio’s. After we pass him we find a doorway to a hidden bar… the rest is history. Grand Theft Auto meets stripped back robot moves. Finally, we have Silicon Scally remixing Transmitting Illicit Logic, warping you to an even tougher and weirder dimension.
