In the space adventure looter shooter video game, Destiny 2, certain items have lore cards--menu tabs that provide additional backstory or information. One item, a rocket launcher called the Two-Tailed Fox, has a lore card containing what are clearly lyrics in the style of an anime theme song without any in-world context for their existence, and, more pertinently, without any accompanying song.

Ever since I read that lore card, I have wanted to make a song to fit them. A quick search on the Destiny Reddit page indicates that other members felt the same way. So I went for it. I made some slight structural changes to the format provided by the lore card, modified one line to be spoken in Japanese, and threw in a couple "yeahs."

Aside from the lore card itself and all the art that surrounds Daito-brand items in the world of Destiny, inspiration came from Trigun, the Sword Art Online: Alicization song "ADAMAS" by LiSA, and a long-held love of absurdly bombastic hair metal.

I hope you enjoy it.

79 AD Vesuvius erupted over Pompei, this is a story of two lovers that die embracing each other. One of them is Agrippa, meaning "wild horse" who sings a song to sooth his lover before they perish. I really didn't want to give a literal explanation for the song, but since I don't want to translate the song, here you go.

Jokivarsi (FAWM 2021)

Well, this is a hard one to understand if you're not Finnish. If you are interested enough, you should google the references. The song is a mashup between a band from my hometown, called Viikate and one of the most famous finnish singer, Vesa-Matti Loiri. So The Shadows style guitars, distorted guitars, hard rock and a iconic singer interpreting the shit out of a song.

Luckily one of my friends does an perfect job as imitating Vesa-Matti Loiri, he also played the guitar solos on this one. Thank you Samuli Paldanius, aka VESKU.

The lyrics are a story between two childhood friends that can count on each other no matter what and a story how they remain friends no matter the distance.
