Where does one even begin?
“Queen Antoinette”

WTF does this song mean?
Well, you see, I moved to Daytona Beach in 1990 and while I was there, I worked for a furniture store. Kind of like Rent -a- Center. I would drive out every day and collect what I could, but mostly, I had to catch people on the 1st or the 3rd of the month. Even then, of course, they would duck me. 95% of the customers were Black. I won’t lie! I had a 22.cal rimfire in my sock, a Ruger Redhawk .44 Cal on my belt and a .380 Davis Industries in my back pocket. These weren’t neighborhoods I was used to, being a Boston Yankee.

But in my travels on this job, I met the most exquisite lady I had ever seen. This woman just made a man’s heart melt.
At the time, I had a commitment to a girl back north that I was working to bring to Florida, but my good Lord, this woman was spectacular. She would sleep in! I would simply walk into her apartment when I was in the hood and go up to her room. She’d be there in bed naked and looking like a goddess. Of course, I was just a man who was there to see if she had any money to pay on her furniture. Sometimes, we’d just sit and talk and I guess this is when I realized that Blacks & Whites aren’t different at all. We are 100% in sync. GOD! I wanted her, but I kept my professional working man’s grace and my love of my lady back in Boston, fully in tact.

This is a story of the “Heart of a Man!”
More than anything at that exact time, you want to mount this goddess and have your way with her, but you just can’t.
Both of you want it, but you just simply can’t!
Not all men are the same ladies.

Queen Antoinette is (not surprisingly) about this lady.
However, the vision the song paints is one of taking a cruise on the Ship Queen Mary.
It was interesting making these 2 entities mesh together.
I hope you enjoy this very fine piece of art from “The Ken David Collection.”

So, there you go! There’s always symbolism that no one truly understands other than the writer. This is the art of allowing one’s audience to think for themselves and, by all means: “DREAM!”

At this particular time, my woman Abby, was pregnant with my daughter Rebecca Rose David. Yes! I wanted Antoinette, but I stayed loyal: For me, that was a pretty high standard that I had never met before.

I play all the instruments and do all vocals on this piece. I must say that, though I am not the world's best producer, I am very proud of this final product. I hope you enjoy it.

Heaven On Their Minds

I started writing and playing around age 13.  I got used to playing in front of crowds as my English Teacher in 8th grade set up a full concert for the entire school in the cafeteria which had a stage and mic inputs and all.  I did it solo. Yea, it was kinda scary.  But I got through it.  I turned into a great stage presence with my years in bands as a frontman.  However, I got tired of performing because I had other things on my mind.  I was being held back playing songs I'd been doing for years.  New ideas had to be taken care of so I proceeded to recording on my own.  

I started off after Matrix with "The Eyes of a Madman" about a Serial Killer in 1989.  I then moved on to "How I spent My Summer Vacation" written in 1990  during my stay in Daytona Beach.  Back to Boston, I got married and in 1994 I wrote some ditties for the kids to sing.  One was "My Name Is Sammy" which is done in this collection with my original vocal to teach him with.  Then "Super Hero" done by Adam which again I used my vocal for in this collection.  But, "Princess" could not be replaced.  Only my Daughter Rebecca David could pull this one off.  Adorable piece of work.

Then I moved again to Florida and did a project where I wanted to use one word for each song title.  I didn't quite succeed but I came close.  This record was Glass in 1994.

Back to Boston in 1998, my life was pretty split into threads.  I wrote a few pieces which are now found here in the album "Out Takes."
I made a promise to myself that I was getting pretty tired of writing stuff that used the same old tired chords and my voice and my stamina just weren't into it anymore.  I wrote a song called "Dangerous Toys."  It's about an old flame that never really burned out and that flame wasn't music.  It was simply time to give it up and I haven't written anything since.
