Homebreakin' Records is pleased to present Calle Del Espiritu Santo, the debut collaborative release from Thievery Corporation’s Rob Garza and Canadian Deep House producer Neighbour.

While touring the continent last festival season, collaborators Rob Garza and Neighbour found themselves inspired by the culture of music and rebellion they found in the most unlikely places. "Calle Del Espiritu Santo" started as a working title from a place that held the festive spirit they both were vibing - a street in the Malasana neighborhood of Madrid where, as Rob remembers, underground culture congregates to party without judgment.

After a fantastic run of singles and remixes from their latest and greatest album The Pool, Jazzanova now offer up a real treat with ‘In The Morning' feat. Zakes Bantwini. It is a track that was not on the original album, but was released as a special bonus track for the Japanese version, and it comes with two terrific remixes from the legendary Atjazz. 

The original version is an uplifting track brimming with energy, hand claps, live broken beat drums and afro stylings. Durban-based music mogul Zakes Bantwini has multiple albums and awards under this belt thanks to his remarkable vocal talents, and proves that here as he adds real soul to the dynamic grooves, which glow with heartwarming chords. 

Remixer Atjazz is a UK house master with 20 years experience and a discography that takes in many underground hits on labels like his own Atjazz Records, Sonar Kollektiv and Mantis. His first version is perfectly deep, with glowing neon keys and mellifluous pads that are dreamy, cosy and romanic. It’s a perfect late night cut for intimate dance floors. His excellent Afrotech remix has supple synths dancing about the mix as sonorous hits and diffuse keys warm things through. It’s more upright and dynamic, but has just as much heart thanks to the distant chanting and well treated vocal, so is sure to become an underground hit.  

Over the past decade the German group, consisting of Alexander Barck, Claas Brieler, Jürgen von Knoblauch, Stefan Leisering and Axel Reinemer, have worked on a multitude of projects. They’ve toured live with the band, hosted radio shows, DJed, remixed tracks by Hugh Masekela, Joe Bataan, Aron Ottignon, Malika Ayane (and many more), curated their labels Sonar Kollektiv and Notes On A Journey and recorded a live studio sessions album of some of their most beloved work. It’s been 23 years since they first got together, and their latest album drew from all those years of experience while exploring new territories.

Kendra Morris recalls singers who straddled soul and rock during the early '70s, such as Ruth Copeland and Chaka Khan, while her contemporaries include the likes of Mayer Hawthorne, Alice Russell, and Leela James. Morris's musical taste was developed through her parents' record collection, a library heavy on late-60s and early-70s soul and funk. During her childhood Morris's main companion was her karaoke machine, which she also used for the sake of recording. While enrolled in college in Tampa, FL, she became so involved in performing with bands that she decided to leave behind her studies and take on music full time. She took up the guitar, as well as songwriting, and eventually involved herself with a band, Pinktricity, which moved to New York in 2003 and split shortly thereafter. Morris took to recording songs on her own, and self-released a pair of EPs: This Won't Hurt a Bit (2007) and Milk and Cookies Never Lie (2008). Her first proper recording, a self-titled EP (2010), was recorded with producer and multi-instrumentalist Jeremy Page (of That Handsome Devil). After touring with legendary guitarist Dennis Coffey and releasing a series of singles which included "Concrete Waves," whose b-side was remixed by DJ Premier, Morris released the album Banshee (2012) on Wax Poetics. In 2013, Morris returned with the covers album Mockingbird.

Both Banshee and Mockingbird received critical acclaim and a cult following, with several film + tv placements. The title track "Banshee" was used prominently in the Showtime hit series Ray Donovan, while her cover of Pink Floyd's "Shine On You Crazy Diamond" found itself in the trailer for major motion picture Dead Man Down. 

In between extensive international touring and promotion for Banshee throughout 2013 and 2014, Morris worked on a small side project band with friends Scarlett Johansson, Julia Haltigan and Holly Miranda, releasing one single called "Candy."  After taking some time to write and record her follow up EP titled Babble, Kendra Morris returned with its release June of 2016 to great reviews. 2017 she has been releasing brand new tracks on a consistent basis and playing often. Keep your eyes peeled for new exciting things!
