John Zorn - Totem and Taboo

After recording some killer cover versions of Bryan Ferry or Frederick Loewe, Masha now sings The Cure's second hit 'Boys Don't Cry'. After more than 30 years of heavy Indie-Disco rotation, you might be sick of that song, but Mashas version is just too clever: First she adds a rhythmic Kelis-citation ('Trick Me'). This also brings (even more) gender twist here, as it may be seen as a comment on Robert Smiths elaborated moaning. Later she simply skips that momentum, that wants to make you sing along -by freezing the song. 
On the flip, the guitar work of James McNew (Yo La Tengo, Dump) guitar adds some gentle funk to Masha's recent single 'Fishing Buddies'. 
There will be a video for 'Boys Don't Cry', directed by Diana Näcke, in which Masha performs some spectular stand on a lake, somewhere in the middle of Brandenburg..

AFTER 4 YEARS FINALLY REPRESSED - COMES WITH A NEW CD & LP ARTWORK. Formed for the improvisation nights Dynamo in Brest, France, this quartet made of musicians covering a wide variety of musical styles creates a sound that mixes electronic (samples, cuts, sound treatments) and acoustic elements (guitars, saxophone, trumpet). They’re playing moody ballads that sound as if they would come out from one of David Lynch's movies. Like in the films of Hollywood’s master of bizarre pieces, there is something like a dark and poisonous colour broken by red thunderlights and blue cigarette smoke. The music spawnes some odd characters and landscapes while the listener makes out some more friendly faces that loom up out of this nowhere place: the voice of Zalie Bellaccico, Milanese streets sounds, a lazy flute, or some distant breathing swim on the surface of this deep troubled waters. "Paroles de Navarre" is an invitation for opening the red curtain of this Dark Jazz cabaret made of shimmering and whirling walls. One of the best musical outputs from France of the last ten years and already a classic.

As previously revealed (http://youtu.be/uiKK7ehFYtA), last summer Mads Brauer, Casper Clausen and Rasmus Stolberg visited Piramida, an abandoned mining settlement located on Spitsbergen, just 1,000km from the North Pole. Nine days of exploring later, and the band had collected over 1,000 sound recordings and inspiration for the album they would subsequently write and record in Berlin.
