There's a truck stop in Scotland about halfway between Dundee and Aberdeen and written on it in huge lettering is the legend 'Ye may gang faur and fare waur'. They're rather ugly looking words in my opinion but lots of people wonder what they mean anyway and it's good that they do. In this context, they mean something like 'well, here you are about to roll on past a cafe, a caff, a greasy spoon if you will, and it may look like the shittiest excuse for an eatery in creation but, kind sir/ma'am, consider this: you may venture further on your journey and discover that, in fact, there are even shittier places ahead and, what's worse, you're going to have to visit one of them or go hungry. So before dissing our shithole (and yes, it really does look like a shithole) let your mind play for a moment on the horrors that may be yet to come'. Well, that's a little like this song. I don't mean in the sense that, however bad it is, even more awful stuff may follow, although that also may be true. I mean that the person in the song - for the sake of argument, let's call him Jonathan - is saying that, yes, he may be a pretty dismal suitor but it's a big bad world and wouldn't it just be the thing if there turned out to be worse ones and, by hook or by crook, the person being addressed in the song - let's not bother with her name, this isn't a fucking confessional - ended up with one of them? Well, it would be like the Tarzan movie where Bo Derek is about to be cooked for the cannibals' supper. Somewhere as the flames dance beneath her she has to be thinking, 'hmm, maybe Dud wasn't so bad after all ... ' Or have I got confused? I think I have. Anyway, this is a song written with truck stops and Bo Derek in mind. I've been an absentee here lately for which I apologise. I would say it won't happen again but lying will only compound the mistake.

This was written by Jenny Dyer. It is in remembrance of  the Connecticut elementary school shooting in December.  The lyrics are just beautiful.  May God bless the children we lost that day.
