The entire original album is included across five 45s, housed in a durable box lined with two versions of the B-Boy Records logo. Each 45 is enclosed in a mini replica of the B-Boy 12” jacket. 
A true classic, Criminal Minded was included in Vibe Magazine’s 100 Essential Albums of the 20th century. KRS-ONE's combination of street slang and Webster’s dictionary knowledge backed by Scott La Rock’s hard hitting, minimal beats helped set this album apart when it was originally released in 1986. With this now-classic debut album, BDP's hardcore stylings helped to redefine the New York rap music scene. Criminal Minded elevated the standards and proved that rap could be a dynamic and consciousness-raising medium. Since its release, KRS-ONE has gone on to become one of the most 
prolific and critically-acclaimed artists in Hip Hop history. 
This deluxe 7 inch box set is a new chapter in the storied history of one of recorded music’s genuine treasures, Criminal Minded.

BDP3 SIDE 2 "DOPE BEAT" BOOGIE DOWN PRODUCTIONS

Dave Howell runs the weekly Music For Beaches radio show on 2SER 107.3 FM from Sydney, Australia. Broadcast at 8pm every Sunday, it features the very finest in mostly chilled-out and electronic music from around the world. In its fourth year at time of writing, and steadily building a global audience, the show has guest slots on Chris Coco's The Chill Out Tent, and enjoys a well-followed Mixcloud presence. Dave has interviewed some key players of the scene on Music For Beaches including Chris Coco, Phat Phil Cooper, and quite recently Jon Sa Trinxa.

Dave's mix for The Sunrise Mixtapes is a nice laidback affair, with almost half of the selections having an Australian connection. Sydney-based artist Max Santilli, who has already featured on more than a few occasions on the series (and deservedly so), sets the atmosphere with 'Sea', from his Tidal LP, released in 2021 on Growing Bin Records. Tetê Da Bahia's 'Duplo Sentido' is a gorgeous slice of latin jazz. This rather rare find was released on 7" single in 1974. Another favourite on here is 'Silky Way' by German jazz-fusion-progers Kraan, taken from their Wiederhören LP, released in 1977 on Harvest (yes, the very same label that released Pink Floyd's Dark Side Of The Moon). Many of the records featured are favourites of the Music For Beaches radio show, and/or have featured on the show at some point. Older classics from The System, the aforementioned Kraan and Warp 69, among others, sit nicely alongside newer choice selections from Videotapemusic, Love Tempo, Mansur Brown and Seahawks. This mix truly showcases Music For Beaches as the southern hemisphere's home for beautiful music for chilled souls.

Kraak & Smaak (Dutch: [ˌkraːk ɛn ˈsmaːk]) is a musical production trio from the town of Leiden, Netherlands, consisting of Oscar de Jong, Mark Kneppers and Wim Plug. The three began recording in 2003. Their first album, titled Boogie Angst, was released in the UK 2006, and they began performing at music festivals and at clubs in the US and UK. Their songs were played on the radio and were used in television shows. Their second album, released in 2008, was titled Plastic People. They won an EBBA. Their third album, Electric Hustle, was released in 2011.

I remember a whole bunch of early Kraak & Smaak 12"s, Squeeze Me with Ben Westbeech, Funk Ass Rotator and then the iconic Henrik Schwarz remix of No Sun In The Sky that would also massively stick it's head out on the K7 Henrik Schwarz Live! compilation album. A really cool moment in time. 

Later Wim Plug invited LYMA and myself to release two 12" on their label Boogie Angst , namely Games Change and No Time and the collaboration helped solidifying LYMA and my relationship and was a great experience altogether.
