I wrote this song a few years ago but the themes of the song are arguably more relevant today than they were then. This song was written as a protest about the privatisation of services in the NHS and social care system. The song celebrates the origins of the Welfare State and the commitment of government to undertake the chief responsibility for providing for the social and economic security of its population. The chorus of the song stands as a warning to all of us that unless we are vigilant and fight to protect the system and the vital services it provides we risk losing these precious gifts and privileges forever. For the the many, not the few!
