* Consisting of a royal couple, and their two closest friends.
* They might as well have been conjoined together, for how inseparable they were.
* But alas, as things often must, it didn't last forever.
* A terrible fate occurred to the friends of the royal couple.
* The both of them had fallen down.
* The royal couple was in shambles, trying to find a way to save them.
* In an act of desperation, one of them tried to resuscitate them with a dosage of Determination from the single human SOUL they had collected...
* It ended catastrophically.
* The two of them started melting and losing themselves...
* Depriving them of their own monster SOULs, and stuck as amorphous, horrific blobs of raw Determination...
* The sight itself was enough to horrify even the resilient Undyne...
* Traumatized, Alphys thought of a solution.
* Perhaps, with enough human SOULs...
* They could be returned to normal...
* Returned to life...
* But there was one thing they didn't account for...
* They had forgotten they have to take the lives of humans for such a feat.
* Undyne seemed content with this.
* She saw this as revenge for the human-monster war that sent them to the UNDERGROUND in the first place.
* But Alphys, on the other hand, was appalled at Undyne's acceptance of such a heinous act.
* Their relationship fell apart quickly.
* It came to a head when Undyne stormed out the Capital, vowing never to return as long as she lives, and vanishing with no knowledge of where she went.
* When they were one SOUL short of accomplishing their goal.
* Forcing Alphys, now a lonesome queen, to collect the final SOUL herself.
