« Far Horizons » for Flute & Piano - Live recording !

This track is my spontaneous improvised piano soundtrack to a 17 minute video of the earth viewed from the International Space Station. The footage starts in the mid Atlantic and ends over the Italian Alps.

NASA make available the imagery that the astronauts aboard the ISS shoot and one of their favourite things is creating timelapse sequences. Being timelapse the earth flies by about 20 times faster than real time which although spectacular is not particularly relaxing. I noticed that videos were available on youtube which were beautifully smooth and playing at near real time derived from these sequences using software incorporating AI motion extrapolation to slow down the original timelapse sequences. I decided to have a go at this myself and after a bit of experimentation the video sequence with the accompanying soundtrack linked above is the result.

In the freezing Norwegian winter of 1581 the plague robs seventeen year-old Silje Arngrimsdotter of all her family. Homeless, starving and shepherding two newly-orphaned infants that she calls Sol and Dag. She heads in desperation for the warmth of the funeral pyres blazing beyond the city-gates of corpse-littered Trondheim. She then discovers this young man that is tortured by the Bailiffs men. In the shadowy forest she meets a captivating stranger - Tengel. He asks Silje to help him and save this young man that is called Niels Stierne that they claim to be Heming, the Bailiff-killer, so they plot this plan and as a result they manage to save him from the torture. Tengel return the favor by promising her to take the two children in safety. They leave and she gets to this farm owned by Benedikt the painter.
