My Dad E. Woodrow Bailey was born in 1912 and died one day after Christmas in 2002.  He was a great and loving father to brother Roger and I and a hard-working and deeply Christian man respected by all who knew him.  As a young man he worked for the navy yard in Norfolk VA during the war, later as a boilermaker on the N&W railroad and finished his career at the Mercer County Assessor's Office.  I got my love of music from him and we especially loved the beautiful love songs of the 20s, 30s, and 40s.  Here is one of our favorites "My Buddy" by the great Irish songwriter Walter Donaldson in 1922.  This song was recorded by more than 200 artists worldwide!

As a child I loved the Firestone Hour during the 1940s where the great tenors and sorpranos of the age sang popular songs in their special way.  Here is an original song of mine like they might have sung in those days.  Without the great voice here is a song a little like If I Could Tell You by Mrs. Firestone.  Her song introduced each episode of the Firestone Hour.

Posted this song a while back before I heard bluesman Charles Brown's original version released in 1960.  He sang in a slightly lower key than most modern versions and had a sweet touch that appealed to many including myself.  Thus, my new version.

I am a happily married  83-year-old guy who loves music, golf, and church. I was a professor of psychology at Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond, VA,  for 32 years.  I have played in several local bluegrass bands (vocals, banjo, guitar), but have always loved song writing.
