Jakarta based record collector and DJ, Merdi got himself inspired by dance music culture in the year 2007. His Journey began with an obsession in finding long lost music. In 2020 he started a vinyl-only party called "Hit Machine", a party that is known for its mix of musical styles, which included disco, afrobeat, brazil, cosmic and new wave, genre that he still play on his set until now. Currently He is structuring Diskoria, a music platform that features classic Indonesian disco music.

It’s one of the best kept secrets of the Indonesian archipelago.

Hidden away on a pop album inspired by The Police, lies ‘Licik’, a deep vocoder funk workout lasting over nine minutes. It’s the first recorded Indonesian song to use the vocoder in such a way.

‘Licik’ is a hauntingly unique track and a testament to the quality of some of the best music the archipelago has to offer. Friends 82, consisting of Delly Rollies, Norman Rachman and the vocoder wizard Harry Sabar, wrote and recorded the track on the spot back in 1981.

The B-side pays tribute to the original song, with a re-contextualisation of the original by Jakarta-born, Bali-based multi-instrumentalist Dea Barandana.

Fully licensed from the songwriter and living legend Harry Sabar.

The record comes in a custom die cut sleeve with printed inner sleeve and a four page insert with extensive liner notes and photos.

The unknown can be tempting, and exciting for our minds. It fueled my imagination as a child, with its never ending surprises. Providing both explanation and probing when it comes to the wonders of the world. Many great thinkers have shown the world that the unknown can be wonder and mystery, as well as our personal growth.

Our universe is a mystery, and the fears with which many hide in do nothing but limit themselves from the truth of life. It is a human nature to want to uncover the enigma, to satisfy the creative side of the human brain. Built upon the blocks of experimenting with the unknown, research has shown it has a biological basis and is a psychological component of how we approach unfamiliarity. 

The desires to explore the unknown continues to grow, in the recent decades, the freedom of curiosity has proven itself limitless. The future is the unknown.

But keep in mind: Brain uses bodily signals to regulate fear. However, how exactly the brain processes every information to regulate emotions like fear is still largely unknown.
