Political rhetoric, for a long time, has been a major challenge in the goal of achieving national cohesion in Kenya. Day in day out, the media gives massive coverage to politicians who have little to say that can add value to the common mwananchi, often choosing to spark unnecessary fires with opponents, and as a result, fueling hatred amongst tribes and/or communities. The reality is that we cannot live without politics, just as art cannot thrive without science.

But really, there are many sectors in our social and economic lives that need probably equal attention, perhaps more. There are people in this country who have to walk for miles to access drinking water and go for days without food. What is our pride as a people? What makes us Kenyan beside the jokes we make about our tribes and social affiliations? How do we understand our citizenship and what gives us our identity?

We are thinking about the other side of the coin this Saturday on #FatumasVoice. We need your voice pertaining this. Join us even as we enjoy poetry and music from the ever evolving Kenyan poets and young brilliant musicians.
