There might have been a UKG renaissance in recent years, but some artists doing their thing underground since those early heydays. DJ Perception is one of them. A pioneer of the UKG underground, he's been pushing the sound for years through his slick DJ sets, signature rolling grooves and his Moodswing imprint.

The label originally began in the late 80s and after a hiatus was passed down to Perception to helm a few years back, now it's become a space for UKG offerings from himself, Sky Joose and The Stab Mechanics, with plenty more on the way.

When he's not running his own label, he's making music for others: the likes of Rhythm N Vibe, Vex White, Dansu Discs and Bluff Records. But it's his partnership with Timehri that has been a really fruitful one. The London-based platform-turned-label, run by DJ T Dunn, has had a hand in elevating Perception to his rightful status and introduced a new audience of UKG lovers to his old school sound.

He helped launch the label arm in March last year, then contributed a joint mixtape alongside Highrise that consisted of almost entirely unreleased music - now, he's returned for a long player which also marks the only album on the label so far. Arguably the first of its kind in the Garage world, Perception charts a voyage through space for his new concept Journey To The Star.

To celebrate the release, which dropped today, he gives us a taste of his stacked UKG collection as he travels through different eras, sounds and styles...

In this episode I was able to welcome the guys behind a wicked little deep house label called Ordinaire Records, based out of Strasbourg in France. Rony, Alex and Thomas have been putting on parties in their area and have their third vinyl release baking in the oven right now. I’ve played both their previous releases on my past shows so it’s been a pleasure to have them on to lay down 90 mins of their signature sound. Listening back to their mix brought out a lot of nostalgia for me as they touch on some of the sounds I was really into (and still am!) during my formative years in the early 2000s, with records from Inland Knights, JT Donaldson, EBE and more. They’ve also managed to squeeze in a preview of their next EP so make sure you check out the mix and the full track listing below!

Adam Curtain is a producer and DJ whose magnetic style drives genre boundaries to the fringes of their existence in UK club music. 

Effortlessly weaving between techno, breakbeat, electro, house, 2-step and tinged with contemporary flavours, his productions shift through various visions of the UK sound. His label Trouble Maker hosts some of his standout EPs - 'Elsitas Dreamland' (TM012)& 'Mr Miyagi' (TM 005).

His most recent voyage with collaborator Ste Roberts takes form as a imprint that will host five releases, the first came out in February this year - (Adam & Steve 01) and has been picked up by Ben UFO, Craig Richards, Shanti Celeste, Saoirse & more. 

Lapse will host his latest EP, which is scheduled to release later this year.
