The air was thick with the fog of the morning and the palpable dread of our soldiers as we began to see the formations of the enemy in the dawn’s early light.  The fog gave way to rain and then it began.  The relentless pounding of the trebuchet crashed into the castle walls with a fiery anger that made physical the hateful bloodlust of the screams of our enemy.  Each wall-shaking explosion was echoed by the thunderous yells of the enemy who would soon descend upon us in a stormy wave of murderous hatred.
