Where Eagles Soar

I got my very first Native American High Spirits flute this afternoon, and this is my first outing on it. Strings were done in the usual way using my old Yamaha keyboard and the sound effects were obtained online (sounds of the Grand Canyon) I hope you like my compositon.

I composed this using my Yamaha keyboard for the string accompaniment, and an Bb Irish tin whistle that was given to me by a friend.

Underneath the bearded barley,
The reaper, reaping late and early,
Hears her ever chanting cheerly,
Like an angel, singing clearly,
O'er the stream of Camelot.
Piling the sheaves in furrows airy,
Beneath the moon, the reaper weary
Listening whispers, ' 'Tis the fairy,
Lady of Shalott.'

For this piece of music I was inspired by the 1888 painting by the English Pre-Raphaelite painter John William Waterhouse which is a representation of a scene from Alfred, Lord Tennyson's 1832 poem of the same name. Waterhouse painted three different versions of this character, in 1888, 1894 and 1915.

Celestial Ballet by Kerri Powles

Kerri was born in Winchester Hampshire, but has spent her life since childhood growing up in the beautiful town of Brecon, in South Wales, which is nestled in the valley below the imposing Brecon Beacons.

She is very much inspired by the beauty of her surroundings, and this is reflected in many pieces of her music. many of her work comes to her in vivid dreams where she visits the most beautiful place and hears music whilst she is there and is able  to replicate it upon waking. She believes tha she experineces a form of NDE when in the dream state.

She has composed much of her music on a very old Yamaha keyboard, building her music gradually track by track, but has recently progressed to a more recent Yamaha Genos. She is completely self taught, having received no musical training and is unable to read or write music in notation form at all.
