A song I wrote inspired by the Gaelic Waulking song tradition called 'Leam thu' which means 'I am yours'. It is all about being completely entranced by someone and all you can do is think about them.

A song I wrote during a very difficult time where I literally had to 'fight for my life' - a very special song to me and I was very proud to conduct the Ross-shire Junior Gaelic Choir singing this which really blew me away.

A small project I took part in in 2016 for a film called "The Gaelic King" - I had great fun with this fab song and singing some of the film score. This song is sung with Stephen Chalk (Treble).

‘Hope is Coming’ is a duet between a boy soprano (Stephen Chalk) and a female alto (Kerrie Finlay). The alto is the narrative voice representing the dark reality of the plight of the Gaels while oppressed by the Great Evil. In our story, the song was written in the reign of King Conall when the Great Evil first arose and threatened to destroy Dalriata by stealing every Dalriatan child.

The treble solo is the ‘still small voice’ representing hope. For the Gaels, children were synonymous with hope as they fought to defeat the enemy that had destroyed their own families. It is appropriate then that this role is filled by a young boy.

There is also a curious role reversal inherent. The adult woman (who might traditionally be the carer) is the one in need, and the young boy (who might traditionally be the dependent) is the one giving hope. This makes for a particularly poignant moment when both voices sing in canon at the end of the song.
