Not so easy to present a follow up after these amazing guest mixes.... Anyway I will take the controls now for a next MLD mix, which is No. 37. And as I was insistently  refered recently to remember the roots (of Dub)..I wanna take that serious in this selection,  also inspired through some tracks I've discovered and get to know in the last time. Our 17th Frontier journey comes from Belgian producer Geert Thirry better known as - The Open Circle. We have been big fans of The Open Circle since we discovered his music a few years ago. He is an incredible producer and very versatile artist, who’s music can span from deep ambient soundscapes, to low slung chuggy dub techno all the way up to full dance floor fist pumping Techno. His production is mostly done using a Modular synthesizer and some other hardware. Then Layered textures and evolving rhythms are built to define the signature style with analog warmth and hypnotic depth.  

Geert has been producing music for many years, His first EP was actually released back in 2003 on the UK label ” Lost Language “as a double vinyl. Released under the alias Karada the release was more in the melodic Techno sphere. Since then his style and sound has developed into the deep Dub Techno he is known for today. His productions have been gathering more and more acclaim with his recent release on the legendary Greyscale placing him firmly towards to the top echelons of the Dub Techno world. 

We are honoured to be able to welcome Geert to the Dub Explorations and Frontier family and look forward to hearing his future productions.

Musically speaking, deep techno is the kind of dub that's an approximate aural recreation of the effect that the music has on the brain. The result is a haunting & tripped out experience where music acts as background music on purpose. It seldom tries to adventure into new territory, because its main purpose is to be placid and deeply soothing but also moving. Its mesmerizing & minimal sounds can create a placid effect i.e. adjective of a person not easily upset or excited. Allways exposed to all genres of music since childhood, founded in electronic music a way to produce his own sounds, mainly focus in the techno spectrum. Start working in a music store in 1998, as same as home DJing and collecting vinyl until today.

Biography: 
Brickman creates music at the crossroads of dub techno, deep house, and ambient. His sound is built on multilayered textures, dub-style echoes and reverbs, electronic rhythms, and powerful sub-bass foundations — forming a distinctive sonic signature. 

The project’s debut release came out in 2010 on Symphonic Silence Inside. Since then, Brickman has collaborated with both Russian and European labels, putting out music on vinyl, CD, and digital platforms. His tracks have been supported in DJ sets by John Digweed, Marco Carola, Hernan Cattaneo, Deepchord, Kirk Degiorgio, and Nadja Lind.

Between 2010 and 2019, Brickman performed live extensively at St. Petersburg venues such as Stackenshneider, Mosaique, Efir, Griboedov, MOD, and Berthold Center, as well as on RTS.FM and Vinyl Jam broadcasts, and at festivals including Abstraction and VPEREDSOMOTRYASHCHIY. He also took part in the Red Bull Music Academy Bass Camp and composed soundscapes for several art exhibitions.

Since 2022, the project has focused on studio work. To craft his signature sound, Brickman employs both analog and digital synthesizers, samplers, and diverse audio processing techniques.

I have experienced a lot of different electronic types and styles during my musical biography which began in the 8oies as a teen with Postpunk and dark wave and develloped further with Ska, Reggae, Jungle, Drum 'n Bass and Techno. Reggae and the Jamaician Soundsystem Culture had also a big influence to me, after visiting Jamaica for two times at the end of the 90ies...

Dubtechno became a very special role to me cause of its introvert meditative attitude which fits very good to me now in the present time.

So music is much more than entertainment to me and shaped my personality by getting much energy from it.
And this is something, what I want to bring over in my diverse and genres overarching mixes.

P.S.: I distance myself from any extremist ideas and religious or political brainwashing attitudes. As well as stigmatization of any kind. I do this to the best of my knowledge and belief.
