In Dyslecta’s words:

This mix was a little bit of an experiment for myself, trying to move through vast tempo ranges while also keeping the energy of the mix, without causing too many abrupt changes for the listener. I wanted to create something that captured a heavy, cold and bleak start to the mix, building up into a more intense flurry of jungle/footwork and other rapid styles before freeing them up to the last quarter of the mix, calming the levels and creating a introspective and calming outro of dub oriented styles. I found the mix initially hard as I put too much thought into each track rather than letting my natural instinct and knowledge guide me through. The genres explored are some of my favourites yet,  I just have not had the confidence to piece together such a mix,  so in a sense the mix was quite liberating for myself.  Many of these styles have influenced and impacted the music I make today, yet I have recontextualized them and made them my own which I hope the listeners can hear.

FEAR-E oldskool mix

After a visit to us in Newcastle early in his career under his former alias, and a recent visit to our friends at Music Sphere - we're chuffed to be welcoming Frazer Ray to the Apecast this week.

A dive into the depths of bass music, kicking off with some atmospheric sounds, progressing into loopy goodness, rave stabs galore, classic garage sounds and more.

The Rinse FM resident had a break out year in 2022 - regularly appearing on line ups with the new class of bass music including Interplanetary Criminal, Bakey, Denham Audio and more. He capped off the year with a collaborative album made with O'Flynn that is essential electronic music listening.
