There is a hum that pervades in nature. It is a thick silence the wind carries along as it drifts like an ocean tide. The natural push and pull of branches in the wind, water lapping ashore and leaves rustling all pulse as the heartbeat of our earth. I sought to capture these sounds for my piece, pulling them all together to create a moment in time, as if one were a tree. As I listened through the recorder, I discovered a deeper appreciation for the magnified noises I would usually bypass. When placing them together, I strived to mimic the pulse without altering too much. I wanted to capture a touch of intensity mid-song with the birds fighting for food, and end slowly to babbling water.
