The impact Belfast born duo Bicep have had on Irish music is unmeasurable, capturing the hearts and minds of the next-gen with their future-facing sonics. The pairing started their FMB label in 2012, going on to support a plethora of Irish artists in the process, from Cromby and Hammer to Brassica and Brame & Hamo.

The label’s latest record comes from yet another Irish artist. Swoose, a name that should be familiar to any Irish electronic lover, began his career handing out flyers for legendary club Stiff Kitten. From here Swoose went on to become a resident of Shine and AVA Festival, and has released a string of killer records on Shall Not Fade and Lost Palms. Now residing in London, his record on FMB brings the OG Belfast dance music community back together for a fittingly euphoric release.

Rotterdam via Belfast based artist Kessler has been on the tip of everyone’s tongue since the return of clubbing. He has released music on Sherelle’s BEAUTIFUL black and LGBTQ+ label and his debut Shall Not Fade release was one of the most celebrated EPs of 2021. Kesslers knackt to create beautiful, other-wordly soundscapes that are both functional and edge on the side of melancholy are unmatched. His flip of title track ‘Breathe’ swaps gentler tones for his signature UK-sound inspired drums and crowd-evaporating atmospherics. The arrangements gentle ebb and flow, maintaining that signature blend of pace and etherealness.

Faux Poly wrap up the first wave of remixes to their early catalogue with Remixed:003. Once again calling on friends & family throughout the scene to contribute something new to the early sounds that established the imprint back in 2022.

Kicking things off is Edmondson with a stunning garage reinterpretation of Kassian’s ‘San Junipero’, the track that launched Faux Poly. Labelmate Ste Roberts’ follows up with a bursting dancefloor flip of ‘Actions’, and Manuel Darquart joins the ranks with an intricate Italo-inspired version of ‘Off World Vehicles’. Poison Zcora’s impressive melody-driven adaptation of ‘No Clear Shape’ draws inspiration from Funk, Afrobeat and Broken Beat, blending chords with off-kilter melancholy melodies. Christian Nielsen's curveball remix builds on a darker Techno aesthetic half-timing and transforming via a completely unexpected Dub breakdown.

Blomfelt & Narby, as well as Long Island Sound, seamlessly fuse big room Trance elements with intimate Electronica harmonies and melodies Bristol based duo Earthnut delivered a playful Garage pinger of Jay Carder's heavy hitter 'Eva's Stoned’, whilst Tom Jarmey’s remix of her track ‘Reverse Disorder’ pays homage to the expansive sound design of Dub and Trip-Hop. Completing the lineup is Geneva-based DJ and producer Olive T with a stunning ethereal remix of Akkala Falls, and finally London’s Joel Blaise with a groove filled lofi remix, rounding off another Faux Poly: Remixed series.

Kelpe's Drut Recordings present 'Antimeta’, the second EP from Devon-based, London-born producer T Goldsmith. Whereas his first release was half a decade in the making, this one popped out quickly over a few months. Compared to the smorgasbord of tracks on his debut ‘Dropouts’, the new EP is more tightly focussed, yet still rudely playful, combining classic jungle / drum and bass textures and tempos with penetrating basslines and floating ambient textures.

A former analogue obsessive and member of medieval psych folk band Circulus, Goldsmith continues to take retro futurism to its logical conclusion using strictly pre-internet technology in a studio setup that could easily have existed around the turn of the millennium. ‘Antimeta’ comes from an exciting time in the recent past of a parallel universe. We hope the EP marks the start of a hyper-productive period.

Unknown Mobile “Mobile Sorcery”- PE009


Levi Bruce, aka Unknown Mobile, has been a prominent figure of the Canadian Underground for quite some time. He resides in Montreal and has contributed to a number of North American labels. It seems only natural that he is the next release on Planet Euphorique. 

“Mobile Sorcery” could be his most rhythmically diverse 12” yet, recorded in just a couple of weekends it breaks free from 4 to the floor, experimenting confidently with syncopation, voices dipping in and out of focus. The opener Broke Melt presents a driving baseline filled with attitude, flickers of glistening synth arpeggios to soften the clanging drum patterns, working in harmony with delicate top lines. The hypnotic haze of textures carries through the record, A2 lifting in energy; shooting stabs, ricocheted sub base filling the space between commanding snares. The Beat Dub of Sorcery strips the track back to the essentials, resulting in a perfect tool for DJ’s building tension. Surprisingly keeping the essence of the tune whilst offering hints of more dubbed, percussive club pushing UK bass.

The B Side explores more of these unconventional rhythmic themes whilst highlighting the power of melody. Heavenly Depression accurately depicting it’s title, pulling on the struggle of your emotions through an ever-progressing lead woven tightly over sweeping pads. The closing track Wilders Lake ties the record together cohesively, lifted stabs to calm the tripped out percussion swooping in and out, growling bass alluding to darkness. The EP blends genres to create new feelings from familiar foundations, channelling Detroit inspired grit and emotion; well rounded to suit hazed and hedonistic dance-floors.
