Can't You See

In fond memory of Will Parker, whose brilliantly original self-taught guitar style graces this early song of mine.  Rest in Peace Will. The other guitar and backing vocals are by Steve Moore. I played tenor recorder and sang - slightly off-key in places (embarrassing now). Recorded in the early 70's on a Sony TC630 three-head stereo reel-to-reel.This is from the archives, and undoctored apart from the echo effect added at the time of recording. When we suddenly stopped mid-song, you can hear Paula Degville asking "What went wrong?" I messed around with the last verse after that, regrettably, since this was the best - or only - recording we had of this song.


Bright Monday

A stream-of-consciousness poem, in response to a picture found in an attic, showing a Persian or South Asian turbaned prince, mounted on horseback with two eagles on his arm. A song about reincarnation, written after a break-up with my first love.  It features a long solo on whistle - one of those times the muse played through me, and I am so grateful that we happened to catch it on tape.
