Solomun <3

As winter ultimately is taking over Berlin, the Loser Records posse decided to move south and escaped to Tenerife for some extended summer weeks. To let you be part of our journey and shed some light into dark Berlin November, we invited David Jach for one hour of his finest tunes.

Many of you might know David as a full on vinyl virtuoso born and raised in the wonderful eastern German city of Dresden. The strictly vinyl only sound of his sets mirrors his own world of emotions. His own productions continuously challenge the ever uniform sounding format of well known download portals. 

Within the last years David has released his own productions on well respected labels like Get Physical, W&O Street Track, Relikt and his very own, newly founded label Different Heads. The first release DH001 was released July of 2021 as - that goes without saying - vinyl only.

While being able to make the leap onto the international stage and being booked to venues all around the globe, David managed to always stay true to himself and stick to his homeland of Germany and specifically Dresden as his base.

For Loser Records he was so kind to record one hour of his finest Vinyl selection for you and us to enjoy. We say thank you David and hope you enjoy this mix as much as we do.

Artist Bio:
The italian DJ and producer Sam Ruffillo is the Italian disco part of Toy Tonics. Sam has an impressive range of fans already after only three EPs: DJs like Gerd Janson, The Blessed Madonna, Pete Tong, Purple Disco Machine and Ash Lauryn are supporting his music. His tracks “Danza Organica” and “Perfetta Cosi” could be easily some of the most played summer tracks in 2022. With only 3 EPs on Toy Tonics, he might be the most talked about producer on the Berlin label (along with Cody Currie and Coeo). One of his disco songs from his latest EP “Chiamami Subito” made it into the high rotation playlist of the biggest italian pop radios and is still growing in the international club underground scene. Coming from Sicily with Roots in New York, Sam incorporates all what disco originally was about! And you can hear this in his music. Mediterranean disco and funky house with Italian vocals are his trademark vibes. On his records (Italianissimo) and also in his super elegant DJ set. That range from rare 80ies Italian edits to hands in the air house rarities from the 90s that make people go mad… He’s shared the dj-booth with names like Kapote, Cody Currie, Coeo, Barbara Boeing, Soundstream, Session Victim, Massimiliano Pagliara and played the best clubs around Europe in London, Amsterdam, Munich, Berlin, Paris, Milan, Rome and Barcelona.

Ketoloco was born in a seven bed Victorian student house basement in Headingley. It began as an after-party, a place for 200+ ravers to continue after club nights like Back To Basics and Dirty Disco had kicked out.

“All four levels of this house became a playground for the student kids of Headingley,” says Ketoloco co-founder Chris Halliday. The seven-strong crew – formed of DJs, producers and, as Halliday describes, ‘Leeds’ friendliest bouncer’ – all met in Ibiza. On their return in the summer of 2006 they aimed to replicate the hedonism found on the White Isle in their Yorkshire home.

They gutted their basement, painted the walls red in homage to DC10 and installed a makeshift DJ booth. Soon after, producers like 20/20 Vision boss Ralph Lawson and Paul Woolford were dropping in to play at Ketoloco after their sets in the city. “You feel like you have freedom and you can do what you want at a house party. They’re audacious, and that’s a bit infectious. People just go wild.”

But March 2007 could have signalled their end. In the early hours of a Sunday morning they heard a noise, quickly followed by a firm kick and around 70 police officers rushing in to see what was happening inside. What the police were introduced to, however, was much different to their usual bust. “Someone was dressed as a vicar, someone else a devil, and everyone else immediately put their hands on their heads in the hallway.” The party ended there and then, cautions were handed out and all of their equipment was seized. “If they wanted to come in they could have just knocked,” said Halliday, in a MySpace message to their followers at the time.

But the party must go on, and where there’s a will there’s always a way. "After the bust Back To Basics's founder Dave Beer offered Ketoloco a monthly residency at his club and we jumped at the chance. That was a turning point for us and loads more sensible and 'fully legal' gigs followed."

17 years later, with several birthday events pencilled in for later this year, Ketoloco are still going strong.
