espresso

2018 was full of so many blessings for me: I graduated college, landed a full time job that I love, and my friends and fam all remained in good health. From a birds eye view things were great, yet something inside felt incomplete. It felt dark. Too often I let that feeling consume me, resulting in self destructive behavior and at times a lack of empathy for those around me.

The purpose of this mix was to help myself and others come out of that dark place and to be reminded that light is there even when you can’t see it. In thinking of a title, I came across the work of James Turrell (s/o Lisa not Kanye lol). Turrell’s work focuses on using light in ways that affect your perception of space/environment. Light isn’t present when you close your eyes, yet in the dream state (especially in a lucid one), your mind can create vivid imagery; light is still present. 

To everyone that feels like they got caught up in a dark place this year, this mix is for you. Light will always exist so long as you seek it. Wishing more blessings for you in 2019 and always. 💡
