From passion to purpose – Ruff Cut Sound System. It is said, to experience true happiness, joy, and fulfilment, look in the direction of your passion to find purpose. Ruff Cut Sound System is inspired by the childhood dream of one man’s love and affection for Jamaican Sound System culture. 

Ruff Cut Sound System, nicknamed “The Crocodile”, originates and is based in the historic town of Black River, located in the parish of St Elizabeth, Jamaica. The sound system was officially launched in 2015, and has grown from concept to a large system capable of entertaining thousands of people in one event. Ruff Cut is the most prominent and popular sound system located in Black River and has garnered a big following of fans locally and internationally.

OWNERSHIP & MANAGEMENT
Ruff Cut is independently owned and operated by Kevin Barrett. He has always been fascinated by the art of music and the devices used to bring music across in a creative manner. During childhood Kevin could always be seen attaching wires and musical instruments with hopes of creating his own sound system. He had great hopes of turning his dream into a reality and as such the sound system got its name from his childhood alias, Ruffy. Little Ruffy was always attaching wires, working assiduously to bring his dream alive, a dream that only he saw at the time.
