Something me and Rob Davies were working on, he wrote the songs and sent me his demo, then we did a series of jams and the songs developed their own life.  At first it was a demo recording for Rob but turned into a 2 piece band for a few gigs.  Recorded with Andy Fernilough at Crash Studios in 2010.  The artwork is just a random pic from google.

In 2009 my friend Rob Davies called and asked me if I wanted to audition for a The Police tribute band.  Being a big fan of Stewart Copeland I auditioned with no problems so we practised and recorded this live as a band in a studio in Skelmersdale.  The reason I didn't use a click is because we were already quite tight and managed to record these 4 tracks in one day.

Recorded in Choc Electrique's practise room (Choc HQ) with Tom Roche.  I'll admit this one was a bit difficult to nail with a click with time signature changes and tempo changes which happened naturally when jamming, the band also said playing rigidly to the click affected the flow of the song.  I recorded the drums alone playing to the song in my head.  I've since kept a stricter eye on my timekeeping but am happy with what we achieved on the day and Tom really made my kit sound great too so overall it's a good recording.  

Disappear - Choc Electrique (June 2011)

This is another from the 5 song demo from the Reism EP recorded and mixed by Tom Poole Kerr at LIPA Recording Studio.
Playing with Reism really got me comfortable playing to a click as I'd be practising, gigging and recording to a click as there is electronic synths and samples to stay in time with.

Liars in Love - Reism (2008)

Recorded live in 1 take as a band in The Covernant HQ at Elevator Studios with Tom Roche.  I played along to a click track on my laptop to keep the time steady.  
I had only joined about a month before too so was very happy with this as it shows what we can actually do live and sounds great.

Hi,  I'm a drummer from Liverpool and this site is to put up recordings of my new and previous bands demos, studio recordings and session recordings I've played drums on over the years (some live, some to a click).  
I teach drums at the moment with Mersey Drum Lessons and also available for session work/ live work (with session work I'm more looking for experience so I might even do it for free if it looks like fun!) I make a great emergency stand in drummer too. 

I started drumming when I was 19 in 2001, my first major influence was Dave Grohl, a good solid aggressive but tasteful rock drummer to lay the foundations down but now I've got too many influences to mention and this is probably because of my love of progressive rock/metal especially featuring the likes of Mike Portnoy from Dream Theater and Virgil Donati of Planet X.  It's a genre which is boundless and encompasses nearly every other genre.  This led me immediately to seek out other styles like jazz, latin, classical, death metal, drum n'bass and fusion with a whole new perception and enthusiasm for music and practising.  I have discovered so many awesome drummers out there I could write a novel.  
If I were to recommend anything else I'd suggest watching Jojo Mayer and Thomas Langs drumming DVDs, they massively improved my technique.

I joined Choc Electrique about 2009 and am still in them today, which is a melting pot of original material ranging from prog rock, indie, punk, funk, metal, drum n'bass, jazz and anything else we can cram in.  There's link to Choc Electrique above - please check them out. 

I also create music under the name "Fatt Jengo" which gives me a chance to indulge in odd meters, polyrhythms, irrational time signatures, drum solos as well as composing/ producing music on a laptop with FL 12.  At first I was just composing and didn't actually plan to attempt to play the drum parts so gave myself a big challenge.  There's a link to that too and my Youtube channel with me drumming on some of the Fatt Jengo tunes which I can play so far.

The years of the songs on this page so far includes previous bands Reism (now based in Norway), The Real Police (The Police cover band), Spearwater (rock/ indie), The Covernant (pop cover band), Trojan Bus (rock/ blues/ funk/ fusion) and current band Choc Electrique as well as a session recording with The Snides (punk) from a few years ago.  There's a few more recordings to find and a quite a lot more bands I've been in over the years but these are the bands I've recorded professionally with in recording studios or at least using professional equipment.  I have written brief notes on how things were recorded if you click the song descriptions too.
