Planning to bring a child into the world makes me think about my own childhood. The village that made me who I am. Back in a small town called Dayton, Oh. My roots. Around The ones that made me dream about being someone special when I grew up. I know 2021 is a whole different ball game. But I’d be a lie to say that I don’t miss some of the simple pleasantries from that time. Some of those core values. Playing outside until the street lights came on. Hooping at the Boys & Girls Club. Riding bikes and Fishing trips with my friends. Watching @durikdajour & @imanandalewis host Teen Summit on a Saturday. The culture has grown & developed in so many ways, but sometimes we need that old thing back now-a-days…

Children

I performed this song at our Baby Shower and I could barely get through it. I cried. I love this song because it makes me feel like I felt when Tupac dropped “keep ya head up”. 
I wanted an opportunity to cherish and celebrate my wife, as well as my mother, and all the mothers for the things they go through to give us life. @kevinrsamuels says that an adult man could live the rest of his natural life in the wild without a woman. But without a woman, a man would never make it to adulthood, without the nurturing and love, that a woman provides in the first ten years of a child’s life. Only women have this particular skill set. Without women, the physical and emotional health of a child is in peril within a matter of moments. The divine partnership of man and woman is one that is often misunderstood on both sides. I am just Thankful that I get to be with someone who wants to get it right. Society may offer a slanted view in the media by placing high value on a man. But make no mistake that the acknowledgment of my value as a man, does not take away any value of the woman by my side. A woman is the greatest resource of any nation. And a nation without women, will surely fall.
 
Lastly, I want to be man enough to say that I learned something from a man I don’t know. That man is @barackobama Sir. Prior to your presidency, I had never seen a man uplift his wife the way you did, on a world stage. The most powerful man in the world, asking the entire world, to take a moment and appreciate your wife @michelleobama for her beauty and grace. “Ain’t my wife good lookin’” you said it so casually, but with a confidence unmatched. And it didn’t make you less of a man. Quite the opposite. No one was gonna call President Obama a simp. Instead, they said President Obama was smooth. And it forced me think about how I’d been representing myself. I’ve repped my school, my sports team, my neighborhood, my fraternity, my record label. Even my country. But never have I really represented my family and my woman. I want to thank you for being an example of manhood  during your presidency, and a higher quality of citizen on this earth. And for influencing a change within me.
