Cosmic Psychosis

This was my very first live set I had the honor to play at The Secret Sanctuary Launch Party on Saturday June 4th. It was a beautiful eclectic mix of various beautiful artists and campers coming together to share space, time, sound, and delicious food. Despite this date and time marking the *end* of the Mercury Retrograde season, my attempts to actually play this set were hampered by various technological issues. I almost quit and didn’t play at all, but in the end... the support of friends and an adjusted attitude prevailed!! 

I think it appropriate to leave these words by Sarah Varcas here as a kind reminder to myself of just what the retrograde seasons are there to teach us:  

“if we allow ourselves to be distracted by the practicalities of inconvenience we can miss the deeper message that Mercury brings because – remember! – a retrograde planet turns us toward our self to process its lessons within, not outward to tackle them in the external world. If we focus all our energy and attention on getting our computer running again we may just miss the most important aspect of the trickster’s influence in our life… the reminder that we’re actually in control of very little and much of our ‘control’ is in fact illusion! We can only claim sovereignty over our self. To tie ourselves in knots trying to control the material world and its many vagaries is a long and exhausting journey with little respite!
 
Which, of course, isn’t to say that we shouldn’t sort out the computer problem or find a different route to that meeting we should be at when our train’s cancelled, but it does mean we should also remember there’s a whole other level to what’s going on, and the more we can engage with that too (and what better time to do that than sat in a station waiting room, or in a traffic jam, with nowhere to go and nothing to do?!) the better. Like the woman mentioned earlier who made the most of her disrupted journey and met someone who changed her life, we too can use Mercury’s tricks and games to enhance the richness of our own existence if we choose."

A somewhat driving track yet smooth and laid back. The Synth was inspired off of Rammstien sound but the lick played beautifly on piano and the vibe sent me in a different direction. New Hope

I haven't used many samples in my songs since the beginning, I have in the past starting out practicing my skills at producing, and even now having only scratched the surface of all there is to learn. I don't use drag and drop MIDI files either,(not to critisize anyone that does, it is a great way to stir up inspiration). I am an artist, trying to stay true to my conscience, to create my songs from my own instruments,(guitar, bass, keyboards, ect.). I am not saying that I won't use those tools in the future, but they won't be passed off as creations made by my hands but as what they really are.
In saying that, what you hear is of my own creation and I am very proud of them even in my growing ability,(including the earlier songs that I produced with samples). I am always striving to utilize what I am learning as a musician & a producer, being guided by inspiration when it comes to me. I am a lover of all styles of music and talent. I am driven to find beauty in all things, to find inspiration from the "Source" where everything has it's beginning. My love and greatest wishes go out to you all. I pray that my music touches you, brings positive change in your life as it has in mine. May you prosper and grow beyond your greatest inspirations!
