We're delighted to be welcoming Lazy Day to the family with the brilliant Weird Cool. Originally the solo bedroom project of Tilly Scantlebury, they have since grown into a fully fledged dreamy grunge pop quartet. Weird Cool follows a succession of absolutely solid singles and more recently an EP which caught the attention of Lauren Laverne, Steve Lamacq and Gideon Coe amongst others. Lazy Day are playing some live shows in the support of the single (out 9th March)

Lazy Day - Weird Cool

In the corner of his small bedroom in Somerville, Massachusetts, Luke Reed of Bent Shapes and Mini Dresses spends most nights quietly writing and recording solo material ranging from quiet and deliberate meditations, to summery jangle pop. Over the years, Luke has amassed a prolific collection of lonely and disenchanted pop songs, seldom released.

"I'm Dreaming" is Luke's first single of the year – an ultra-catchy, lo-fi dream pop song that follow's his collaborative single with Tea Leigh. Last year, The Native Sound re-released Luke Reed’s debut LP ‘Won’t Be There’. Initially self-released on Bandcamp last summer with no promotion, or even album art, 'Won't Be There' is a set of 16 lo-fi indie rock songs.

“Vital Sign” represents two sides of a coin. It references feelings of isolation and paranoia felt during periods of illness and confinement, as well as the emergence from such an experience, in recognition of the trials that bind us (“it could have been you too”). The song begins with a reflective moment which quickly reaches a breaking point, accentuated by screeching strings and bellowing background vocals."
