I'm participating in a class called Life Compass and one of our assignments is to write a personal vision statement. I was encouraged to be creative and was inspired to beatbox with the Loopy App and perform my vision statement as a poem. Enjoy! 

Here are the lyrics:

God has made me as a man of passion, passion for him and a passion for people

Lately that passion has carried me out of the typical church that bears a steeple

He’s given me a desire for a deeper walk with Christ, the God-man that loved so radically the lost and dejected

I want to follow him to the streets, to the nooks and crannies of my neighborhood and of people’s hearts to show them they have not been rejected

See this is what I believe it looks like to live out of the Kingdom of God, because the Kingdom of God is where the King is

And if Jesus is who he says he is, the great King himself, then it’s his steps I want to live in

I believe that God in his rich grace and kindness chose me before the foundations were laid, in spite of my inevitable blindness

Later he fashioned me with a heart of compassion and empathy, with the unique ability to speak truth so that others might see his

Grace and mercy…

I believe God has made me to be a pastor, but not the kind with a suit or the kind that tries to grow his church faster

I believe simply he has made me a shepherd, a weak vessel he uses to point others to The Great Shepherd, my Master

He has given me leadership qualities, but only that I would lead others to see the glorious Trinity

As one who fails and pales in comparison to my King I will sing and give counsel that points to him, not me

Wherever I go I aim with hospitality to welcome others into my story and to listen carefully to there’s with great sympathy

I can’t help myself, I must help others, loving God and loving neighbors, seeing needs and serving where I can with generosity

This is who God made me to be, he made me to see the glory of he who died and rose from the grave

I’m simple and fragile but my King has no castle he walks with me and through him I’m made brave
