Not For Me

Winner of the 2012 Calgary Folk Music Festival Songwriting Contest's "Untapped Newcomer" category, Kevin Maimann is a uniquely morbid balladeer. 

Maimann began his journey into acoustic music in 2011 after the demise of his thrash-metal band Ways to Kill, which saw him growling and shredding solos -- work that could not be further from the infectious hooks and airy, falsetto vocals that dominate his solo material. 

Several songs surprise with flurries of nimble guitar work, while lyrical themes include serial killers, witches, lovelorn werewolves, the undead and Inuit legend. His debut album DEATH PERCEPTION, featuring Tim Hatch (Morals) on drums and Renny Wilson on bass, is set for release in early 2014. 

The classically-trained Edmonton musician also plays in experimental goth-punk band Look Away.
