The quality of our guest mix series remains unbroken with the 3rd session coming courtesy of Andrew Weatherall who has had numerous appearances at our No Strings Attached club nights since the early years.  He always amazes us with the way he manages to capture the full attention of the club during his sets, pushing and challenging the crowd with his avant-garde performances. The long standing relationship continues when he returns next month with fellow slomo cosmic warrior Sean Johnston and this mix gives you a perfect taste of the ALFOS sound.


NSA Guest Mix Vol 3. Andrew Weatherall

February has arrived and we've decided to go with something a little different for episode 21 of the Phonica Mix Series. Andrew Weatherall is a legend of the UK music scene and also one of our regulars here at the shop. We've always considered him to have a finely tuned ear and he loves to dig for music across all genres and styles. We always wanted him to contribute to the series and this month's episode is one of the most original submissions we've had as it doesn't contain a single track of House & Techno which is arguably the main sound our shop has become associated with. There isn't much that hasn't already been said about this legendary producer, DJ and master remixer so we've decided to let the music do the talking here. Here you'll find an eclectic mix that includes everything from slow-mo Patrick Cowley cuts to afro rhythms from William Onyeabor and mid 80's cold wave from Nagamatzu.

@andrew-weatherall (@rotters_golf_club) - Andrew Weatherall’s extraordinary twenty-five year career in music has been characterised by a series of unique partnerships, with twenty albums, thirty or so EPs and singles plus more than two hundred and fifty remixes under his belt. Bastion of the underground, Andrew has set up record labels, remixed in collaboration with artists including Paul Oakenfold on Happy Monday's Hallelujah and has brought a distinctive flavour to hundreds of other artists. Remixes led to a smattering of production duties.  Andrew only rarely wears the producer hat but on each occasion, from Primal Scream’s 1991 Screamadelica to 2009’s Tarot Sport by Fuck Buttons, the results are outstanding.  This year he released one album as The Woodleigh Research Facility (with Nina Walsh) and one under his own name, titled 'Convenanza' after the festival he curates each September in Carcassonne.  A remix album of the tracks from Convenanza will follow in October.
