All I Need

Jesus said "This is my commandment, that ye love one another, as I have loved you."  The "Agape" love of God, the love that comes from God alone and is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Spirit; if the things we do for or in Christ's name are not done in that love, they are worthless, there is no profit to them, they are like a clanging cymbal or a brass gong.  All noise and show and nothing profitable that comes from it.  If we want our lives to give honor and glory to our savior, we must live in a way that shows the love of God lives in us by our thoughts, our actions and our words.

We were all born to love God, though many of us still do not realize just how much He loves us, once you do,you will get it.  The bible tells us the only reason we love God is because He first loved us.  If you don't know how much God loves you, I hope someone comes along who can tell you, or you read a New Testament and the Holy Spirit opens your eyes so you can see what He has done for you, what He has given for you.  You are God's creation, of course He is going to love us.  Do you not love your own children?  That's similar to the kind of love God has for us, but His love goes much deeper than that.  He loved us so much that he allowed His one and only son Jesus to give His life for us on the cross at Calvary, so that He would to pay the price for ALL our sins once and for all!  He did this because none of us on our own are able.  Elon Musk, Warren Buffet, Jeff Bezos and Bill Gates do not have enough money combined to buy access to heaven.  Because money is nothing to God, God already owns it all anyway.  What God desires is that we all become saved, that is; have faith in the works Jesus Christ accomplished for us on the cross then come to know Him through the scriptures he has given us.  Your life will forever be blessed, not only in this life, but also throughout eternity.

Hallelujah Christ Is Comin

Written March 23rd in Nashville while waiting on a co-write that never happened.  With Easter coming up I was thinking about Jesus' sacrifice, his death, burial and resurrection.  I love the details the biblical writers give and how it offers such a large canvas to paint with.  The central theme for all Christians is the cross and Jesus crucified for us.  Without the cross, we are still dead in our sins, but because he died for all of our sins, we can be baptized into his death and resurrection and given newness of life.  What a glorious day Easter represents, Resurrection Sunday!  It also points to another day and time when all his  chosen will all be resurrected and receive new bodies like his and live with him forever more.  Hallelujah!

When you get to know Jesus, who He is and what he's done for you, you too will know Jesus is the best.

Jesus Is The Best!

According to the bible, we are citizens of a kingdom that is not of this world.  As such, we are supposed to be speaking for our King and about His kingdom.  We are all just passing through this life and we need to be prepared or we will not be a part of that Kingdom.  According to scripture, sinners will not inherit neither will they have a part in the Kingdom of heaven.

My Real Home

I put my trust in God, I put my trust in the finished work of Jesus Christ on the cross.  My faith is in Jesus!  Jesus is the true Passover Lamb, and I believe in His shed blood for the forgiveness of my sins.  Jesus is also a type of Ark, just as the only ones saved in the days of Noah, were Noah and his family, only the ones on the boat named Jesus will be saved in the day of His coming.

Put My Trust In You

Jesus came to give his life for sinners just like me and you.  The bible says we all sin and fall short of the glory of God.  But even when we were sinners, Christ died for us.  He came to reconcile us back to God by paying our sins debt with his own life.  He shed his blood on a cross and gave his own body for our healing.  Now who owes a debt?  One we can never repay?  Thank you, Jesus!

Let The Empty Tomb (Co-Write)

How do you express someone's beauty?  In the case of Jesus, it's not about his features, it's all about his love, his mannerisms, the way in which he dealt with people on a daily basis.  It's about the person that he is and what he came to do for all mankind.  Beauty is measured in so many ways, listen how Jesus is so beautiful to me, I think most of you will agree.

You're So Beautiful to Me (Co-Write)

Do you know that God is with you right now, right this very second.  He is with us all, or he has one of his ministering angels watching over you.  That may sound fantastic or unbelievable, but I assure you it is not.  Whenever and wherever we go, God is there.  The psalmist David in Psalm 139 describes that it is impossible to hide from God.  To not be seen and not be found, no matter where we go, God is with us, He loves us that much.

I Know You're With Me (Co-Write)

Do you know where this old world of ours would be if we didn't have Jesus?  We probably would have destroyed this world through war by now, blown it half to pieces by nuclear weapons.  But how about salvation? There is no other name given under heaven that can save us.  The simple truth is that without Jesus, we don't have a prayer!  Now isn't that a sobering thought?

Without Jesus (Co-Write)

Jesus has overcome our sin, He has overcome death. hell and the grave.
In Jesus we have won the victory, we are more than conquerors in Him.
This is Good News!  Take up your victory and lift up your voice for the Lamb of God has won victory for you.

You Overcame

The bible refers to Jesus Christ as The Good Shepherd, and Jesus said "My sheep hear my voice".  I am so thankful I hear His voice because that means I am one of His sheep.  But sheep are about the dumbest animals alive, and that is an app description of myself before coming into a trusting and following relationship with Christ.  Jesus will help keep you from harming yourself, even if he has to use His Shepherds crook to knock some sense into you.  A shepherds job is to protect the sheep, provide good pastures for them and lead them where they can be provided for.  Jesus will do that for you.  Are you tired of leading yourself around?  How's that working out for you?  Jesus will lead you not only to still waters, but to the living water of life everlasting.  He alone is the door, He is The Way, The Truth and The Life, no man or woman comes to His Father (God) without coming through faith in Christ Jesus.  Romans 10:9&10 says  9 If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. 10 For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you profess your faith and are saved.  If you truly believe that God sent His son, if you will confess Jesus not only as your Lord but also as your Savior and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, the scripture say's "You Will Be Saved." Psalm 23 (I Shall Not Want) (Co-Write)

A once in a life time opportunity to write a song for your daughters wedding.  But, as I told my son, the song is called "My Kids Are Teaching Me" which means it includes you too.  William Shive is my daughters husband, the father of my grandchildren, and quite possibly the finest young man it's been my pleasure to know.  Definitely the best son-in-law I could have ever asked for.  It was both a pleasure and a joy for me to be able to perform this for them at their wedding, it was a very special moment. Jesus paid the price, I have been set free, the stripes laid upon Him, He took them for me, the scars from the nails, in His hands and feet, the blood that He shed, Oh, He shed it for me, He shed it for me!

He Shed It For Me

Christians look forward to the day when either Christ returns or they enter their rest.  Either way, we are going to a promised home with Jesus.  He told us in the Gospels that he was going to prepare a place for us in his fathers house.  So not only do we get to spend all of eternity with Jesus, but with God the Father.  He owns everything, is the creator of everything, and the Bible tells us we will be joint heirs together with Christ.  I try not to think about it too much because my head feels like exploding.  It's almost too much to take in, but that is part of God's plan for us.  No wonder we look forward to going home.

Biblical rest is a very unique kind of rest. While the world may think rest is something you have to wait for at the end of a long day at work, biblical rest has to do with something else completely.  Biblical rest is present while you're at work, not just after work. We can have biblical rest even in the storms of life.  Entering into this biblical rest starts with our relationship with Christ. When we are growing in our relationship with Christ we are learning to rely on Christ more than ourselves and the things of this world.  Our trust in God and how he is working in our life is key to having biblical rest, we don’t have to be in turmoil because of the situations in our life or the situations in the world, we can rest in God’s promises.  Entering into God's rest is something we can have now, not just something we can look forward to in the future.

Did you know that God chose you to share eternity with him?  To share first of all who He is with us, so we could know His character, his steadfastness, His love, His tender mercies.  Do we fall in love with someone just because of what they look like?  Or are we attracted to a person because of who they are.  God chose us, because He saw who we could be.

This is where it all started for all of us who believe.  It's certainly where it started for me.  It's where Jesus gave His life for my sins and yours, on His Cross at Calvary.

How do you thank God for everything He has done for us?  This song is one of the ways I say Thank You, but living the life He has called us to live, as disciples of Jesus Christ, is the greatest thank you I can ever truly give Him.

Thank You

I am a follower of Jesus Christ; I’m a husband, a father, a grandfather, and a very blessed man.  I also love writing songs that praise our God and our Lord Jesus Christ for all they have done for me.  If you don’t know Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior, I hope you hear or read something here that helps you.  After all, that’s the reason I do what I do.  If I had a cure for cancer and withheld it from someone who was going to die without it, I would be a miserable schmuck of a man.  I have something that is so much better than a cure for cancer, I have Jesus Christ, and you can have Him too.  

Just as an aside note, I had a motorcycle accident in 2019, my injuries included an injury to my spinal cord which affects mainly my arms and hands, so mainly my guitar playing, so please don't expect greatness, but you'll get the gist.  I've also had some very bad acid reflex problems which has apparently affected my vocal cords, meaning from time to time you will hear differences in my vocals that I can not control.   That being said;

Here is the bottom line of everything you will ever need to know: 
EVERYONE needs a savior!  and HIS NAME IS JESUS!  
Let’s start with how much God loves you.  God’s Love:  God loves you and has a wonderful plan for your life.  “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life”. (John 3:16)  God’s Plan:  “I have come that they might have life, and might have it abundantly.” (John 10:10) Why then are most of us not experiencing this abundant life?  The reason has to do with sin; sin is what keeps us separated from God.  We Are All Sinful:  “For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God”. (Rom 3:23)  We were created to have fellowship with God, but because of our stubborn self-will, we chose to go our own way, and our fellowship with God was broken. This self-will, characterized by an attitude of active rebellion or passive indifference, is what the Bible calls sin.  We Are Separated:  “The wages of sin is death” (Romans 6:23). This death separates us from God spiritually, and it must be dealt with.  Jesus Christ is God's only provision for our sin. It is only through Jesus Christ that we can truly know and experience God's love and plan for our lives.  He Died in Our Place:  “God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us” (Romans 5:8).  He Rose From the Dead:  “Christ died for our sins ... He was buried ... He was raised on the third day, according to the Scriptures ... He appeared to Peter, then to the twelve. After that He appeared to more than five hundred.” (1 Corinthians 15:3-6).  He Is the Only Way to God:  “Jesus said to him, ‘I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father, but through me’” (John 14:6).  God has bridged the gulf that separates us from Him by sending His Son, Jesus Christ, to die on the cross in our place to pay the penalty (the wages we earned) for our sins.  Each of us must individually receive Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord; that is the only way we can know and experience God's love and plan for our lives.  We Must Receive Christ:  “As many as received Him, to them He gave   the right to become children of God, even to those who believe in His name” (John 1:12).  We Receive Christ through Faith:  “By grace you have been saved through faith; and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God; not as a result of works, that no one should boast” (Ephesians 2:8-9).  When we receive Christ, we experience a new birth.  We Receive Christ by Personal Invitation:  Jesus says, “Behold, I stand at the door and knock; if any one hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him” (Revelation 3:20).  Receiving Christ involves turning to God from self (repentance) and trusting Christ to come into our lives to forgive our sins and to make us what He wants us to be. Just to agree intellectually that Jesus Christ is the Son of God and that He died on the cross for your sins is not enough. Nor is it enough to have an emotional experience. You receive Jesus Christ by faith, as an act of the will.  “If you declare with your mouth “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.  For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you profess your faith and are saved.” (Rom 10:9, 10).
