Following major league releases on Afterlife and his own imprint Apparition, Dutchman VNTM makes his debut on Spectrum, stamping down his pristine melodic techno mark on the label's 20th release.

'Deceiving Tendencies' and 'Disrupting Machines': evocative titles for these apocalyptic times. Two tracks, two universes, two transcendental opportunities to momentarily leave this reality and be whisked away on huge, swooping sonic waves. 'Deceiving Tendencies' takes the lead; A widescreen progressive tale laced with tense strings and soaring textures that lift you gently but make no promise to bring you back down to earth. Meanwhile 'Disrupting Machines' keeps us in deep space. Expect premium zero-gravity feels as the track's elements appear to float around us and the unhurried, palpitating groove gradually twists in and out of the stars, light years away from the current realities.

Joris Voorn returns with another sterling release on his Green label. I Ran The Zoo is a lesson in stripped-back contrast and subtlety, with an acidic groove bleeping away over driving percussion and delicate atmospherics in its Digital Version, the tension growing with every thud of the kick drum. A dizzying breakdown raises the bar with snare rolls and dramatic pads, with the wide-open space therein soon sucked back into the void when the beat drops back in.

Meanwhile the special Analog Version harks back to Joris’ techno sound of old. The throbbing kick and bass and acid blips are set against rising, white-noise drenched synth swells and simple percussion to create something moody and tough yet teasingly pared back.

These two heads-down mixes make this release a stark contrast to some of his more melodic, riff-fuelled releases of late, once again demonstrating Joris' endless versatility and shape-shifting abilities.

Kevin De Vries delivers big room drama on his ‘Aratak’ EP for Afterlife Recordings. 

Spirited synth lines, drum rolls, gripping moments of silence and weighty kick drums make the title track of De Vries’ Afterlife debut formidable club gear. ‘Sciamachy’ is more subtle, centred around a euphoric arpeggio which spirals to its apex. Konstantin Sibold contributes a fine remix, toning down certain elements of ‘Sciamachy’ to let others shine. It completes an EP that brims with energy and dancefloor dynamism, a hugely exciting first full record for De Vries on Afterlife.

Booka Shade welcome back Moonwalk to deliver their first full EP on the label as the duo reveal their ‘Elessar’ EP to open December.

Milan-based, Neapolitan duo Dario Vizioli and Mauro Morabello, aka Moonwalk, have emerged in recent years as one of Italy’s brightest rising duos within the melodic house and techno scene, with releases to date via the likes of Stil vor Talent, Diynamic, Knee Deep In Sound and Suara gaining the attention of a host of the industry’s leading names, from Solomun to Carl Cox and beyond. Having debuted on Blaufield earlier in the year to remix Arm In Arm’s ‘Hunger For Your Vibe’, most notably featured during ARTBAT’s stand out Cercle performance, here we see the pairing return to Booka Shade’s label to deliver their first full EP on the label entitled ‘Elessar’.

Title production ‘Elessar’ opens the EP in emphatic fashion as the pair weave soaring lead synths amongst suspenseful, energy building breaks and sweeping sonics, whilst ‘Cheos’ welcomes as slightly darker aesthetic as rich melodies meet restrained yet punchy percussion arrangements alongside further towering builds and breaks. Last up, the duo combine with fellow Italian Erly Tepshi to unveil the softer yet bright ‘Ikarus’, guided by resonant leads and Elenora’s infectious vocals throughout.
