“Spring ~ A Journey of Water ~”

This is a collaboration song with Alex Roe.(https://soundcloud.com/roetaka)
And it’s one of the song from the album “Seasons” that we made. 

“Seasons” has 4 tracks and we decided to make “Spring” and “Summer” like a relay. 
It was just like a jam session, each person wrote a short section about 1~2 minutes, then passed back them like a baton.

It was very fun for me and I really learned many things from his music.
Please enjoy the difference in our style.

この曲は作曲家Alex Roe氏とコラボして制作しました。
コラボアルバム「Seasons」の中の１曲です。

「Seasons」には４曲のトラックがあり、「春」、「夏」の楽曲は
各々が1〜２分の短いセクションを書き、それらをリレーの様に受け渡しながら制作していきました。

「春」は私が主導、「夏」はAlex氏が主導の元、制作しています。

楽曲リレーを行おうとAlex氏から提案を頂いた当初は、
今までひとりで１楽曲を完成させることが当たり前だった私にとって
とても難しいことに感じていました。

曲の接続の仕方も自由で、盛り上げたところで渡してみたり、
もっと聴きたい！という流れの中で次の番が回ってきたりと、
ジャズのアドリブまわしの様な創造的な体験でした。

彼の音楽から学ぶことは多く、とても楽しい経験となりました。
私たちの作風の違いを、ぜひ聴き分けながらお楽しみください。

On “Pray,” Kendrick Lamar reflects over “the voices of art” and personifies a song by Michael Jackson and a speech by Martin Luther King, Jr., respectively. In each of the first two verses, Lamar mentions two dates that relate to the lives of each man—The Jackson 5’s “ABC” released on February 24, 1970, and MLK delivered his “I Have A Dream” speech on August 28, 1963.

The piano sample comes from a 1979 song called “Say A Prayer” by T-Fire.

Kendrick uses every verse to explore how the media is quick to dismiss an artist’s contributions to society due to their personal shortcomings—he specifically delves into Jackson’s pedophilia accusations and King’s marital infidelity. In the final verse, Kendrick establishes that artists bring meaning to the world regardless of their individual imperfections.

The song was recorded sometime in 2019. Leaked on August 18th, 2020, under the name “Prayer”, however it was only ever titled “Pray” and “Mr. Morale”. Ultimately scrapped due to being leaked along with “Gotta Love Me” and “Somebody.”. Also mistakenly thought to be an original version of “The Heart Part 5”.

Lyrics for the song were present on Tidal for “Mr. Morale” when the song first released before being changed. Zaytop claimed that this was meant to show up on the album as the title track but it was replaced with the version produced by Pharrell.
