When I wrote this song I wanted to imagine the character Tom Bombadil from my favorite book series of all time, Lord of the rings. He was always singing a song that had the reoccurring hook "Merry dol Merry dol", and he also had a wife named Goldberry. I wanted to imagine a scenario where Goldberry got angry with Tom and leaves him. Tom, confused and devastated about losing the love of his life, writes a song begging her to come back to him. But at the same time he is still very much in love with her so he acknowledges the pain he caused her and if she is in fact going to leave then so be it. Be safe my merry dol... Hence Tom's Tragedy, with my own creative spin on it. Enjoy!
