After years digging up musical influences, from abstract to house gems and collaborations with leader artists such as Terrence Parker, Maxime Dangles, Strip Steve, Red Rack’em, Lauer and Mézigue, Blutch is in a new creative field and reveals a groovy taste exploring UK electronic music history with this second extract from his forthcoming debut album ‘Terre Promise’.

After the beautiful ‘Cobalan’ between electronica and breakbeat, a cool journey in this place where he spent his childhood, he strikes with ‘River’, following his ability to explore UKG and 90’s breakbeat rhythms with his touch of melancholy, amazing textures and great sound design. In reference to the river near Cobalan, where he passed his teen years, trying new experiences and hanging out with new friends,

‘River’ abandons the innocence of the 1st single for a strong euphoria full of wistful emotions. Between leftfield, breakbeat and house, ‘River’ affirms his creativity to play with an eerie vocal sample in a pleasant frame: dreamy chords, pumping bassline, swirling synths and twinkling melodies. This UK influences crossover of UK dance music heritage with a contemporary vision turns this this track into an euphoric and trippy dance anthem that could remind Bicep.

The track comes with two darker and sharper remixes by Ellum and Astropolis Records key figure and reference in the French techno landscape Madben, and man of the moment Malcolm, Global Warming Records label’s boss.

Madben brings us in a deep and racing techno with a sense of progression, turning the vocal more oppressive and heady. Tension is at its peak in the first part, before a beautiful new world of tones, an energising melody with emotive synths and profound sounds. A perfect material to hypnotize the dancers.

London-based producer Malcolm makes us, as he always does, enjoying the end of the world with a tsunami of sounds that bang hard between heavy bass, syncopated beats and his deeply immersive sound design with his signature crossover of cinematic chaos, drum’n’bass influences and emotions. A charming chaos softened by the original melody and vocals that appears in a ghostly way.

This package is the perfect match for the return on the dancefloors and has the potential to embrace the audience with emotion.

Welcome to Avision's contribution to Kwench Records' "Fusion" V/A EP,  which also includes tracks by Ivaylo, Jay Tripwire, Hector Moralez, Paco Wegmann, Pete Moss, Onur Ozman, Sisto and Jack District.

Growing up in New York, he's since remained in the city ushering in a new wave of techno for the NY scene. While his name might not be commonly known in Europe, you'll likely know him as a US headliner who holds a firm place on line-ups with Carl Cox, Carlo Lio, Victor Calderone, Chris Liebing, Kenny Glasgow and Joseph Capriati, among more.

Elsewhere, he's just been announced as featuring on Ben Sims' forthcoming techno compilation 'Tribology.'

Italian artist Anfisa Letyago debuts on Rekids delivering two captivating cuts, including two brilliant remixes from Mark Broom.

For over a decade, this Neapolitan DJ and producer has been renowned for her hard-hitting techno tracks on labels like Redrum and Intec. She now debuts on Radio Slave’s Rekids, following the likes of Laurent Garnier, Spencer Parker, Hybrasil, P.Leone, and SRVD.

‘I’d Rather B’ starts with shaking percussions into soul styled vocals, fading out to deeper and darker tones, before ‘Pump It’ progresses into a smooth acidic background completed with a subtle groove undertone. Warp Records and Cocoon artist Mark Broom returns to Rekids with two remixes of ‘I’d Rather B’.
The first leads with a stomping bass and rupturing sirens, generating an atmospheric aesthetic from start to finish, whilst the second focuses more on the groove – introducing piercing claps, rattling hats and small bursts of vocals cries as the track continues to build.

What started as a live stream at Moscow’s Mutabor on 3rd May 2020, has morphed into the first instalment of a new digital compilation series on трип: Hot Steel.

The concept is simple: trip head Nina Kraviz announces the stream date and sends out a call to artists for their unreleased work to oidodekraviz@gmail.com, all genres are welcome. After the stream takes place, the favourite tracks are signed and a few weeks later Hot Steel is released. 

To kick off the series, Hot Steel features newcomers, fresh talent and already established artists from all over the world: from New Zealand to Spain, Belgium, Italy, Germany, Poland to the US and Canada, but also Russia, France, the Netherlands and Georgia. 

Hot Steel will be released on 19th June to join Bandcamp in their commitment on that day and give 100% of the sales from the compilation to NAACP Legal Defense Fund.

Platinum-selling recording artist, label boss, festival promoter, true innovator in the pantheon of popular music, cultural champion, cracking DJ: there’s a lot to be said about Kevin Saunderson.

His influence runs deep, through both adopted hometown of Detroit, and music culture as a whole: as one of the Belleville Three, the high school trio which also includes Juan Atkins and Derrick May, he irreparably changed the face of electronic music; with Inner City, he gave it some of its most memorable tunes. 

The genesis of today’s enormous techno scene can be retraced straight to Kevin, Derrick and Juan, as their formative experiments on rudimentary hardware sketched a blueprint for a genre that was yet to exist. By absorbing Kraftwerk, cutting-edge funk, local radio stalwart The Electrifying Mojo’s electicism, and all manner of new synthesiser and drum machine-led pop music, the Belleville Three broke new ground as musicians and DJs in the 80s. 

Saunderson’s comparatively late start as a producer – kicking off in ’87 under the moniker of Kreem, with E-Dancer and Reese two of the more well-known names to follow – inadvertently gifted him a headstart. With the eruption of house music a few hours down the I-94 in Chicago, Saunderson married Detroit’s raw sound to more tactile, pop-leaning sensibilities. Inner City was born, and global success followed.

Between “Big Fun”, “Good Life”, debut album Paradise and a number of follow-up singles, Inner City (Saunderson and vocalist Paris Grey) amassed 12 UK top 40 hits and over six million records sold worldwide during their peak. A dancefloor-dominating remix by Luciano in 2008, and a globetrotting reunion tour in 2012, underscores the longevity of Inner City’s classic sound. 

His nickname of ‘The Elevator’ is apt: for his role in transporting Detroit’s new sound to a wider audience; as anyone who has seen him perform live can attest, his high-energy, high-spirit and high-impact DJ sets; and for spending the past 35 years of his life progressing the culture he helped create. 

Operating in tandem to his golden run as a producer in the late 80s and early 90s, Saunderson’s own KMS record label – a remarkable 30 years strong in 2017 – has chronicled the early footsteps of R-Tyme, Blake Baxter, MK, Chez Damier, Derrick Carter, Bicep and even Saunderson’s son and regular DJ partner Dantiez more recently. 

A special 12” series in 2008 called History Elevate, released in tandem with fellow polymath Carl Craig’s Planet E label, brought contemporary names like Mathew Jonson, Simian Mobile Disco and Loco Dice into the fold, proving his nous for fostering relationships with each new wave to come through techno’s gates. 25th anniversary compilations and numerous reissues have followed suit. 

Saunderson has a behind-the-scenes role to play, too: he is intertwined with the history of Detroit’s flagship Movement (formerly Detroit Electronic Music Festival / Fuse-In). Having produced the event in the mid-2000s, the last handful of years have seen repeated invites from Movement to display his ORIGINS showcase at the festival, bringing acts like Delano Smith, Phuture and DJ Minx under his curatorial umbrella. 

And of course, with a stacked international touring schedule over the decades, playing in nearly every country and at nearly every festival or club worth mention, he has not stopped pushing the feeling of techno on and on. 

The Groove That Won’t Stop, indeed.
