This was my contribution for Disquiet Junto Project 0654: Just Notation.

In studying the graphic score "True Glimpses 1" by Franziska Baumann, the abstract notations reminded me of the random generative sounds that can be created using a Krell Patch on a modular synthesizer. In this piece, I used a version of the patch on a semi-modular Make Noise Easel – 0-Coast, 0-Ctrl and Strega. The audio was recorded to Ableton Live where I added reverb from Valhalla Supermassive. An additional track was added via MIDI keyboard using the Fors Tela plugin. Used Supermassive again as well as Aberrant DSP Lair "occult reverberator" for effects on that track. This one is dedicated to my friend and co-conspirator Laurent Proy, know here also by his nom de plume The Lost Lô. I met Mr. Proy here, and only here, on Soundcloud but in spite of this ethereal contact I feel a real connection with him. The last couple, nearly a few, of years have been tough on both of us though. I won’t bore you with the details but suffice it to say, for good reasons, we hadn’t had the chance to speak, very much, the last few years. Well my own life has, for the most part, settled back down and for nearly a year I’ve been reaching out with no response. I wasn’t concerned at first. The last time we spoke he mentioned an upcoming move but as it came near a year, I thought I’d try to find another way to get in touch. In trying to track him down I found that he had passed on. I’m heart broken. His humor, music and warmth will be greatly missed. I now wish I’d asked more questions and had taken advantage of our friendship to fill in the many blank spaces. Anyway the last time we spoke he mentioned some version of Up On The Roof, that I posted many years ago but then had taken down. I hadn’t thought is was up to my rather low standards but he had requested the tracks years ago and talked about digging them up and working on it together. I think the lyrics spoke to him and he thought the song would be perfect for us to collaborate on together. I’m sure he was right. I have decided to collaborate with his memory, in his honor. It’s impossible to share his wonderful insights and crazy humor but fortunately he did leave his music. Anything on his page would worth a listen but here is one of my personal favorites. Rest in peace Laurent.
