As Roam Recordings approaches its 100th release, label boss Jason Peters returns with three originals for the 99th. The title track - Broken - is a heavy, mid tempo chugger lead by distorted guitars and analog synths for a dark and moody romp. Picking up the tempo is Time Division with its crossover of indie dance, dark disco, and techno with its driving arps and warped soundscapes over a pulsating rhythm. Rounding it out is Trifecta that again hops genres with a bit of italo and 90s rave in the mix. The EP is backed by two excellent remixers - Roam alumni and Indonesian electronic music maestro Jonathan Kusuma and South Korean rising star Shubostar. Up first is Shubostar who brings up the tempo of the title track with a breakbeat while keeping it dark and mysterious. Jonathan Kusuma takes on Trifecta and moves it into heady psychedelic electro territory with his bass mix.

It's been a brief hiatus, but as they say, "ain't nothin' to it but to do it!". Idle Cellars returns with a new look and more wonderfully chilled and eclectic DJ mixes for your listening pleasure. We have lots going on behind the scenes so watch this space!

We kick things off with renowned recluse and self-proclaimed Record Weasel James Glass! A native Londoner, James fled to the West Coast in the early 90s after a stint in NYC, immediately establishing himself in the local vinyl & DJ scenes with expert-level knowledge of soul, funk, disco, house and more. Thirty years later, James has seen a career that's brought him to play at everything that's worth playing in San Francisco, to successful disco edit label collabs with Wicked founder DJ Garth and Chicago hustler Zernell, to curating the third volume of Dave Lee's Under The Influence compilation series for Z Records and, in the past few years, quite possibly being at least partially responsible for the best outdoor daytime parties the Bay Area has seen in quite some time. James is the opposite of the modern, look-at-me-at-all-times social media DJ, much preferring to toil away weaseling the world's greatest records and occasionally appearing outside his home. 

"Good Feelings" is one for Sunday mornings,..into Sunday afternoons with wistful easy listening joints, proper soul, grooving dub and reggae, heady baroque pop, AOR funk and of course some disco and boogie to liven things up towards the end. Perfect for road trips, sunbathing, a well-rolled blunt or sunsets in warm weather....

British duo who met in the 1980s in Manchester. Their very influential discography shows off influences spanning acid house, hardcore techno, ambient, krautrock, '60s psychedelica, and more. Previously Dougans, as Humanoid, had a UK Top 10 hit with Stakker Humanoid. Together as FSOL, they scored a major crossover success with Papua New Guinea. Their first full-length Accelerator charted their dancefloor-friendly early career, after which FSOL moved into deeper, more album-oriented world. Lifeforms was a double-disc set spanning long stretches of breakbeat-flavored ambience. It was followed by Dead Cities which added hip-hop, trip-hop, industrial textures, and bleak urban imagery into their mix of influences. Their ISDN album compiled music from their ISDN-uplinked radio broadcasts from the mid-1990s. After Dead Cities came out in 1996, they felt like they were moving in the wrong direction and they dropped off the radar after the A Monstrous Psychedelic Bubble Exploding In Your Mind Vol.1 mix in mid 1997. 

After a 4 year long hiatus in which they were surrounded by rumors of insanity and drug addiction (whereas the real situation was mercury poisoning from teeth fillings and some soul-searching travels), the Papua New Guinea Translations concept remix album came out in 2001, followed by the full-length The Isness and more material under the Amorphous Androgynous name. 

In March 2007 they finally went independent and launched FSOLDigital.com releasing dozens of unreleased material (under the From The Archives series), as well as old and new material from their other aliases. One of the most anticipated albums in ambient history, Environments got released 13 years since its recording, and then Environments continued as a series, the first volumes were reproduced old material blended with new neoclassical material. By the time they reached Environment Five in 2014, all recorded material was brand new.
