A little backstory. I came across a post from the good brother John Morrison. It was an interview of Herbie Hancock describing how he made a mistake while playing with Miles Davis. He uttered a phrase "take poison and turn it into medicine". For some reason, that phrase stood out to me so profoundly. Fast forward, the trailer for the Fred Hampton movie(Judas and the black messiah) premiers. It also has a profound effect on me. Being originally from Oakland California, I have always had a deep connection to the Black Panther Party. Knowing the history of Fred Hampton, how he murdered. Coupled with how Breonna Taylor was murdered. It effected me. Needless to say I drew inspiration from all these things. So, I produced some music which inspired me to write this song.
