There are a lot of favourite artists involved in this release, peeps: Rising Turkish producers Günce Aci (SXDNS129) and Fat&Bald (a project run by Ortac Genc) joined forces and delivered two powerful original cuts for the 11th release of the acclaimed label Belly Dance Services, curated by the beloved duo Hanzo & Yaman (SXDNS065). “Being and Nothingness EP” comes also with mighty remixes made with love by two of the most established virtuosos of the so-called Dark Disco/Indie Dance scene: Mexican Theus Mago (SXDNS056) and Guatemalan Fabio Me Llaman Soltero (SXDNS187). We chose the remix by the latter to review/premiere.

Owner of a very peculiar sonority, FMLS has been shaking the world with a lot of talent, charisma, and bathrobes (many bathrobes). His interpretation of the title track comes with an exquisite fusion of Latin and Orient elements, resulting in an extremely intricate version. If the original theme combines Günce’s characteristic dark trippy soundscape with Ortac’s rock-infused melodies, Fabio’s 'Neoson' remix can be best described as a beautiful sound mess. Nothing that will surprise his followers; after all, they (we included) are already used to seeing him wreaking havoc in both his performances and productions.

The machine sprung to life with a great electric roar, inside it buzzed and hummed sending out an enthusiastic noise which echoed with a precise tone and texture. This was the flange factory, where dreams were made and the noises of nightmares echoed between empty walls as dancers moved back and forth. The lights began to flicker and flash as the electrical currents pulsed and vibrated with a scattergun sense of purpose. Soon they would be lost beneath the fog and the sounds of a world beyond... 

Lucas Croon is a producer on who it is wise to keep close tabs, he has released music previously on Themes For Great Cities and Aiwo. Now he lends a hand to a new split release on Feines Tier, an imprint based in Cologne. His track "Flange Factory" is destined to do wonders in the hands of well informed dj's.

Nothing Is Real is back for the release number 24 with a retro wave EP coming from the talented Corsica based dj and producer Valerj, which includes 2 stunning remixes by Roe Deers and Amarcord.
Valerj’s debut solo with the title track ‘La Selva’. Thanks to the magic sounds of nature, this tune is a muscular take on dubby electronic music that gradually builds tension and suspense throughout its almost eight-minute duration. The track is followed up soon after with a brilliant remix from the mighty Lithuanian producer, Roe Deers, who brings the distorted and trippy bass to the foreground while decorating the track with additional percussions, effects and melodies.
The EP’s second track ‘Senza Tè’ demonstrates Valerj’s experimental spirit, as tricked-out sequencer arp and uncanny MIDI instrumentation compete for the listener’s attention. This is a truly original and mesmerizingly unique piece of synth-pop music. The Third track ‘Frisco’ wants to confirm the Italo-fingerprint of Valerj’s productions with a main synth who drives into rolling drums, cosmic synths and ethereal voices.
Finishing off the release is the body-mover ‘It’s A New Wave’ Mix of Senza Tè by Amarcord, which slowly builds a head-nodding rhythm from his typical Italo touch with punchy snares, a resonant bass wobble that bring us back to that new wave edge listeners associate with Nothing Is Real.

There she caters to Krakow’s visual art scene as the CO-director of the project space „Elementarz dla mieszkańców miast” and throws parties under the name Szum uniting cold mutant electro with sparkling italo disco. Behind the decks she has been smashing dancefloors for years, selecting an eclectic yet always driving mix drawing from the same influences. But as a skilled pianist, she was always drawn to creating her own music as well. She contributed several projects for movies and performances - and over the years fleshed out a killer live show. An all-Spanish affair, this one: Pumuki (David Campos Torres) hails from Madrid and has a musical background spanning techno, minimal and electroclash, while Calystarr (Adrian Pena Sanchez) is a native of Cadiz and cites influences including new beat, Italo, EBM and indie-dance. Such inspiration can clearly be heard on the four tracks that make up the 'Retroiluminate' EP, with the title track sitting on the Italo/techno/prog cusp, 'Close Your Eyes' bringing the mid-80s dark Euro vibes, 'Lucas De Leon' throwing some proto-house drum programming into the mix and 'Corvette' adding guitars and a dose of indie attitude. All four should go down well on floors that like their disco dark, electronic and 80s-leaning.
