Finally putting out this recording of last year’s set at Waking Life - it's been a quiet spell for me recently, but following the closure of Planeta Manas feels good to break it with this release.

Playing between Nídia and Cormac, I was faced with a mood and genre-defying challenge, ending up playing from 80 to 170bpm including polyrhythmic drums, gushing psychedelia, conjuring both luminous and ominous soundscapes. Graced with a critical mass of enthusiastic stompers getting lost against the most beautiful sunset at Praia stage.

Thank you WL for inviting me to play, and thank you Ivan for inviting Planeta Manas crew to attend this year - a sweet moment to replenish our energy to say farewell to our planeta.

Thanks to everyone for the flattering words and who convinced me to release - my dear friend and agent Keira for the encouragement and patience, to my bug in crime Sasha, the amazing sound and light technicians, some sweet strangers at the festival, and in particular Sybil, the most prolific mix maker whose dedication to craft is ever inspiring.

Organiser, musician & new friend, Luhung Hsai offers a guide to contemporary DIY music in Taiwan. In this episode, Luhung presents an hour-something-long introduction to the avant-garde, noise, hardcore sounds being made around her, emerging in and around Taipei city.

模擬神經緊繃狀態
當下腦神經判斷聽覺接收的聲音動態，會是在頭皮前額葉上方與耳道極左右回蕩的狀態。
低頻的節奏速度以30的速度跳動著，詮釋當凝視思考一物時所聽到心臟 跳動聲。

Simulating a state of neural tension, the brain's auditory perception at that moment resonates betweer tex above the scalp and the extremes of the ear canals. 
The low-frequently  rhythm pulses at a tempo of 80, interpreting the heartbeat one hears while fixating on an object in deep thought.

Deep Percussive Mix

There are few names as widely loved in clubland as Bristol-based producer Omar McCutcheon, AKA Batu.

His label Timedance, currently celebrating its ten-year anniversary, has been instrumental in shaping a certain corner of contemporary electronic music. It champions a mutant, rhythmic, UK-flavoured sound that escapes any obvious genre touchstones, as well as spotlighting the careers of artists like Verraco, Ploy and Hodge who push musical and cultural boundaries.

In this Exchange, McCutcheon sat down with Resident Advisor's editor, Gabriel Szatan, in London to reflect on the label's Afrofuturist philosophy, its journey over the past decade and the sense of purpose and direction that have developed over time. He spoke about the impact that scenes beyond the UK—such as China, South Africa, Brazil and Mexico—have had on his productions and label curation, and how they offer fresh perspectives that contrast with Europe's sometimes overly nostalgic take on dance music. He also discussed finding positivity in a dark time, and music's enduring potential to inspire and connect.
