Into The Abyss #041 | Fran Acosta

Fran Acosta, born in Malaga and resident in Granada since 2008, is when he became interested in electronic music. 

Lover and explorer of experimental, avant-garde and timeless sounds, in his sets you can find very diverse soundscapes, from IDM, broken beats, techno, d&b... always looking to surprise the listener in search of the most primitive reactions.

Currently, and since last year 2022, he starts the project Klub Collective together with his friends Isidro Bolivar (Utopian) and Antonio Moreno (Kaizen), thus initiating in the south of Spain, a new trend focused on electronic club music where they share booth with national and international artists.

He does not consider himself an artist but a music lover in continuous movement.

Nico grew up in a small coastal town in Galicia in the late 80s. In 2008, he started to involve himself with deeper shades of electronic music and their profound sentimental atmospheres. His interest became an obsession, and within two years he began to play in clubs across the Spanish northwest. 

According to the artist, he was influenced by a golden generation of local DJs who helped define and shape his sound in terms of dance music, along with a rounded love of legendary bands and artists from across the musical spectrum. His musical philosophy is that everyone has something to bring, so there is always something to learn. 

In 2015, Nico moved to Barcelona, expanding his horizons both artistically and personally. He’s currently  one of the residents of the renowned Nitsa Club, and together with the duo Binomi, is responsible for HIRU, a multi-venue party across the city designed as an ode to club culture.

Nico prefers not to pigeonhole himself into any particular style, but his sets are nothing short of hypnotic. When he plays, he looks for that peculiar sensory union with the dance floor that connects them without words, seeking to lead the night in the same direction together.

„ @Varuna4053 the collaborative project from Basel, Switzerland, loves to oscillate between truth and fiction, exemplified by their involvement in the research label ‚a walking contradiction‘.

This spirit also characterises their recent releases on labels such as Delsin, IDO and Amenthia Recordings which have bolstered their approach.

They will soon return to AWC and present new episodes in their struggle against nature. Look out for AWC003 if you always dreamt of wading through mangrove forests, covered in mosquito bites, only to suffocate in brackish deep tech.„
